Well guys its on the internet so it must be true ...
I almost went to the website full of malarkey, but decided not too.
Question :
Does this Guy happen to sell anything such as shoes or (God forbid) a book? Why would someone lie to people like this.
Jk
See, I think by not going to the site and writing it off as malarkey without seeing it is just being as bad as every shod runner that doesn't want to hear about going barefoot cause they're stuck in their ways. If we want people to actually believe in the barefoot movement and change their stubborn minds we have to listen to everything they say and directly respond to it with the evidence. If a shod runner says "oh that barefoot crap is a bunch of hippie bologna, people need shoes" we can't just reply "no your shoes are a bunch of bologna, barefoot all the way, there's so many studies about it!" They'll just think you're an idiot that likes to jump on underground trends and conspiracies.
That's why I made this post, I want as much ammunition as possible to retract almost anything someone can throw at me. I told a runner friend of mine about barefoot running, and gave him a whole speech including everything from Steven's articles and the "born to run" book and the "it's the way we're designed to move" argument. He was still skeptical, so a few days later he sends me the link to that site and says "you gotta stop buying in to everything you read on the internet." So what now? I can't just say "oh that site is crap, everything he says is lies, he's misconstruing the evidence, he's wrong." Gotta have the specifics, kno what I mean?
