Day 1/week 1

Jan 1st 2011, Today I officially started my 365/52 parkour project.

Because I have been trying to heal form a back injury, today I took it slow like I have been to get better. But I won’t let that, or anything else get in my way. My girlfriend Christine and i when down to Crown Hill Elementary school to start off my project, we started with a lot of warm up movements such as bear crawling, lunges, and a little jog, followed by a LOT of stretching. Once we got to it (yes Christine was doing everything right alongside me) we were working on some flow on a single rail, and then worked on balancing with it and some walls nearby. We also worked on rolls and pop vaults in the back of the school. It quickly got cold and dark so after about an hour and a half we called it a day. We got some good film.

~thanks for the help Christine!                        Good luck everyone doing this with me

D2/W1

Jan 2 20011, Today I whent out with some of the team, Jacob, Kenny, and Nathan, We all met up at Chaparral high school, but quickly where “asked to leave” which rarely happens at that school. Luckily today we also found a whole new location to do parkour, Hot springs middle school. After our warm up (bare crawls, lunges, jumping jacks, pushups, and some very light parkour) we stretch out and began exploring the area. The school had a lot of great walls, and level changes. Plus the whole place seemed to string together to it made for a great PK obstacle course. I made shur to work on my wall climbs (no running start). It was really rainy today to we kept the pace slow as to not slip on anything. However we welcome the rain since it offers a good opportunity to work on control and proprioception (body awareness in in your environment).Today was held a good deal of improvement in my mind.

-Side Note- we whent to the Jacuzzi by cob’s house, there where some people there already, and the recognized all of us from our parkour videos! That was pretty cool since they were all like 25 year olds.

~not going to let the rain stop us.~

Day3/week1

Jan 3 2011. Today was rainy and cold again, so to give my back a brake I stayed around my house and did some strength training. I also worked on my kip ups, rolls, and standing Kong vaults over this tiny wall in my house. I also bear crawled up and down my stairs (both directions I was facing the bottom of the stairs).  Then I whent out into my back yard and did some pull ups and chin ups on the bar me and my dad build a few months ago. My back is getting a lot better, still hurts though.

I saw a video today on YouTube of someone I have been trying to “get to their LV.” It was a new video, and it was obvious that why had been training just as hard if not harder than I am. So as soon as im healed. Im going to step it up a notch or twenty.

Jan 4th 2011 Today, after school I had a snack and when down the street to a private Christian school, St Jeans. When I got there I ran half a mile and did my warm up and stretches. I had texted Kenny (who is doing 365/52 PK with me) so he came down today and brought his brother Chris, and we knocked out our training for the day.

We started on this handy-cap access ramp outside the school (side note: Traceurs love handy-cap access ramps, nuff said). We worked on flow, and perfecting the execution of all the basic vaults. We also came up with mini parkour courses through the rails. It was good training. I found a nice spot for a Kong Kick Back, off of this palm tree. I’ll put it in this week’s training video. We then whent to a play set and worked on muscle ups, fly aways, and I did some bar losers (front flip out of a swing) which will also be in the video. Kenny and Chris soon had to go meet up with their parents, so they left. I finished up the day with another half mile run, a walk home, and warm down stretches.

Thanks Kenny and Chris for joining me today.

Great log man.  I'm also trying to do a training log each day for the whole year.  It'll definitely be worth it!

Jan 5th 2011

I had two parkour sessions today, both of them lasted for about two hours. The first one was with Temecula Valley High School’s Parkour club. Im the president so I lead the team around a local sports park and did parkour on just about anything we could find. We also did some rural training, jumping around these large cravens in the side of a hill washed out by rain. It was a lot of fun. This ended around 4:20

The second session was at DC Gymnastics Parkour and Free Running class, I teach this class with a fellow traceur and friend, Kenny Bridge (who is also doing 356/52 with me). Today’s class consisted of perfecting basic vaults, learning Webster’s, working on wall run and wall climbs, and conditioning at the end of class. Conditioning totaled about 50 pushups, 70 sit-ups, 30 pull/chin ups, some dips and some bare crawl courses. It was a good work out. And as a tradition in the Temecula Parkour DC gym class, at the very end of classes we do four final pushups. Every time we go down we scream all in unison.

Jan- 6th- 2011

My back was kind of soar from yesterday’s all day session, so today I dident do too much for training, but it was still productive. I took a ¼ mile jog down to this water run off area by a park. I jumped around on a bunch of rocks. I free stepped across them and worked on my precision jumps. I worked on some wall climbs of these slightly slanted concrete walls along with some vaults over a small concrete lip in the area. After about 40 minutes I walked home, a setting sun turned it into a really nice, long walk.

Day7/week1

Jan 7th 2011. Yet another parkour session with TVHS’s parkour and free running club, I love going to these sessions, today the team had so much energy; everyone had a blast doing parkour with each other (a solid group of about 15 kids). The team whent to this military style log course right behind our high school at a neighboring Christian school, Linfield high. We worked on a lot of flow and played around on these pull up pars. It worked up a good sweat. We then whent back to our school and did a small course with two rails, a tree, and a set of stairs. It was a VERY productive day, for everyone.

~Good job today TVHS, Parkour club members!

Jan 8th 2011 I was going to meet up with a bunch of team members today at Great Oak High School, but it ended up being only me and Travis. Together we worked on pop vaults, and moving through rails. We both got a little faster fluidity with today’s training. We then moved to Red Hawk Elementary School. Here we stuck with today’s theme, walls and rails. We both were able to cut a little of time off out muscle ups today too. It was yet another productive day!

~thanks for going with me Travis
