On risk of sounding like I'm lying, I have done all of those things you listed, asides the swimging. I was speaking purly Parkour anyways. While I might not ever be put in the sitiation where I have to take a fall like that, it's always good to know what my limit is. It's like buying car insurance, you get it incase you're in an accident, but you never want to need it, I want to know I can take an 8ft drop if nessary, but I dont want to have to if I can find another way around. Hopefully how it was said that time gets what I mean across better

I don't think you're quite understanding my main point. Doing the drops does not help you know if you can take it. The "emergency" time you visualize yourself needing to perform that drop is going to be unique and individual. You'll never find your limit through taking drops on pads, and you'll hurt yourself finding it on concrete. If you want to know if you can take the whatever-foot drop, then you should study anatomy and physics fully. Those facts will tell you what forces your body is capable of generating. Because testing them on your own body risks (and in your case) creates injury. And injury -lowers- your capacity to be effective as an athlete and a human being. That goes against your entire purpose, does it not? To be ready and able?

The point is, like I have been saying all along:

1. drops are damaging to the body
2. you do not need to do drops to know that you can do them IF necessary

Training drops are just not good for the body, and hence will be a detriment from your future Parkour activities which is why they are very much NOT recommended

Look guys, I understand that drops will NOT help me in anyway in my training, and I know this. Before you say I dont understand this, my oldman has his wings (he's military), and has had neck and back problems since he started jumping. But telling me over and over that drops wont help me any is shooting the shit, it's not going to help me at all. It's like telling a druggy that crack is bad for him, he knows it, but he just does not care. Parkour is a martial art, and with those, there are tons upon tons of ways people train. Some want to take drops despite the fact that it hurts them in the long run, while others look at the long term and dont do them at all. In the end, you will train how you want, and I'll train how you want. This coversation has become way too political for my liking. Happy running...

And the LORD will send a plague on all the nations that fought against Jerusalem. Their people will become like walking corpses, their flesh rotting away. Their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

Forums are for discussion and advise, my friend. If that's not what you're looking for, you're in the wrong place. If you want help and to make yourself more healthy and to learn more, then accept what people are telling you. If not, then I guess that's that, man. If you're all about ignoring sound and solid advise, that's completely your choice and your responsibility.

I agree generally, Adam, but, as the OP previously pointed out, the Injury REPORTS section is not intended to be discussion. The sticky thread in this sub-forum is VERY adamant about the purpose and conformity of posts, under pain of deletion. So I can understand why he is a bit miffed.

I believe Steven (surely innocuously) breached this protocol near the outset, and the OP's response was a bit over-zealous, leading to 3 pages of responses. I say this thread's run it's course - Steven if you have another look in here, maybe you want to lock this and call it a day? Just a thought.

I always "breach protocol" when people are doing things that hurt themselves on what is usually bad logic.

But yes, this discussion is over.
