Maybe a self explanatory question
« on: December 01, 2010, 08:24:16 AM »
I've got all of the basic skills of parkour down without a doubt in just this summer. Basics being; Kong monkey dash pop turn speed etc. vaults and other various techniques that parkour incorporates such as balancing, muscle ups/climb ups and under bars. From my training I've found these basics are needed and are real good for cardio, coordination, accuracy, speed, power, and agility if done in rapid succession and fluid motion but where is the strength, power endurance etc. that it takes to advance to the unnatural levels like the big time masters (besides tricker in the sport because tricking seems to create these skills on its own).
So back to my question. Does parkour training basics in extreme conditions like jumping off heights and jumping for distance etc. somehow create an overall full body excise that includes all adaptable skills that the eat move improve site lists?
(:

No.

You need to strength and condition properly.

Generally means lifting heavy weights, or getting strong with progressive bodyweight exercises.

Practicing the basic parkour movements in progressive more difficult situations while focusing on progressively getting faster over a given course and being able to endure over longer courses will develop, speed, power, agility, stamina and endurance and co-ordination, tricking could be programmed to achieve very similar results. Either should be parried with a progressive strength and mobility training program for optimal development.

I will face my fear, I will let it pass over and through me and were it is gone, I will turn the inner eye and see its path, and only I will remain.
