transiton dleg > side?
« on: November 25, 2010, 09:25:35 PM »
i have my double leggers along with many other flips down perfect, but not my side (kinda pathetic i know).  i just kinda suck at them.  is there any way to tweak your dleg and make a transition to sideflip by the knowlege you already have with dlegs?

oh, and just another question, are there dleg swing throughs, it seems like there could be but i never see anyone do them.

thanks

have a nice day

Well, D-leg and sideflips are two completely different movements so it's kind of hard to transition. With the sideflip you use more of a gymnastics style blocking and really pop with your shoulders to gain height as opposed to turning, digging, torquing, and kicking your legs over. Also, your chest/torso will always be facing horizontally instead of barrel-rolling over.

And yeah I've seen Daniel Pitlock do them in his throwback vid at 1:35

I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

I don't know if this'll work for you but the first time I did them was when I tried to do one as silently as possible. It was funky but I just automatically did a split takeoff and did a nice sideflip.

If that doesn't help, which it probably won't, you're just going to have to learn to get comfortable. Find an object about mid-torso height and keep rolling over it sideways as if it were a sideflip. Keep going harder and faster until you clear the object altogether.

Hmm. I wouldn't really compare a d-leg (or an aerial) to a side. Idk, just dont over think it. It's just a sideways front flip hahaha
This post was based off of my personal gatherings. Enjoy:)
