working out and constant aches
« on: November 03, 2006, 10:55:32 AM »
I'm curious. I'm still working out sporadically. I notice that when I do so, and push myself pretty hard, that I have 1-3 days of muscle aches afterwards. Nothing horribly unpleasant, but definitely noticeable.

Those of you who are pushing harder than me--are you constantly achy?

Hmm, I personally have muscle soreness more than muscle achiness. Not sure if that's the same thing you're describing.

I'm not doing parkour-specific workouts all the time, but I do pushups, sideups, v-ups, squats, situps, padwork drills, sparring, etc... 3-4x a week. And yes, I'm in a constant state of sore :)  I remember I took 2 weeks off from working out a while back, and realized that nothing was hurting for the first time in months. It was such a strange feeling! :p

Soreness occurs when you work out and your body is not used to the intensity or mainly volume of work that it is doing. Soreness is generally not something you want because it can hinder training. You need to build up a tolerance to your workout out BUT keep your exercises or lifts effective so that you are still gaining strength.
