Dame Du Lac
« on: November 28, 2005, 06:37:13 PM »
The famous giant climbing structure in France featured in many French parkour videos. The structure was originally intended for climbing and other physical activities, but was later closed off following a death (or deaths?).

Hmm . I think it should be noted that it was closed after climbing deaths, not PK deaths. there were two people who died, one was definitely a climber, and the other is uncertain, may have been a traceur. which leads me to believe climber as well, because at the time (over 3 years ago) there just weren't that many people in the French community that it could have been a traceur without someone knowing the person. Look how global the community is now, and if someone is seriously injured or dies everyone knows about it within a day.

true, true.
I think you should add that this spot, as a part of Lisses is sort of the Mecca of parkour.

I've seen one video with this structure in it. The gate was locked. They did some kind of move to get over the fence (I'm not familiar enough with Parkour to be able to tell you what it was). They showed a sign that said keep out, and the frenchmen said, "It says keep out." an the other guy replied, "Ja, in theory." Funny stuff.
