Random song on an internet video from Mirror's Edge led me to buy the game. After playing it I was searching parkour on the internet and found this site. I promise I won't be jumping skyscrapers and punching cops, not yet anyway.
Awesome

My first exposure to Pakour was watching 007 Casino Royale, when James Bond was chasing that bomb-maker. So, I started trying to figure out what the heck all this was.
Now that I'm not spending all my time with the Golf Team, Swim Team, and Army ROTC I finally have time to try Parkour out!
Passivity is a lie, there is only movement.
Through movement, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain expression.
Through expression, my chains are broken.
Movement shall free me.

Army ROTC or JROTC? Either one ftw.

Army ROTC up here at college, training with the crazy competition teams. It was a fantastic experience and definitely got me into shape, but I barely had time for classes.  :)

If you want to get technical, ROTC is a class. ^_^

Alright, touche, haha. But it was the only class I spent at least 16 hours a week in, when I already had 14 credit hours in my "academic" classes

I went to jump over a fence. At the top the board snapped and I fell and broke my hand in several places requiring surgery and some screws to reconstruct some joints. It took about 4 total months of recovery before I could use my hand again.

While I was recovering I heard about a gym near me that offered Parkour classes. After that incident I realized how pathetic it is I couldn't hop over a fence without seriously injuring myself. After I healed I immediately started doing Parkour.

I've been jumping fences, vaulting low walls, climbing walls, and other stuff of the sort since I was a little kid. But I was with some friends and we were looking up hilarious videos late one night when we started watching videos of people doing flips. I saw some related videos that looked cool so I started watching more and saw people incorporating flips into fluid runs and climbs. I instantly wanted to be able to control my body as well as they did so I went out and started practicing precisions and vaults and it just went on from there.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." - 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear is the minds way of limiting the body, to remove all fear is to remove all limits.

Well for me, i saw something about Parkour on tv years ago. I immediately googled it and learned more about it. Ever since then i saw the world as a playground. Everywhere i went i asked myself "what could i do to get from there to there in a quick way?". Parkour/Freerunning also puts me in a zone...like calms me. Its like my getaway and ive always been the loner type person so it gives me something to call my own. i just love the rush and peace that Parkour gives me :)

I got interested a few years back when G4 was airing a tournament, owning the Mirror's Edge game might have me over the edge as well. :) I'm still a complete noob, too.
When faced with an obstacle, I jump over it.

I seen a few vids of Parkour and told myself I was gonna try and get into it but I got distracted with school, work, & home living but now I am more geared to trying it out as a discipline and also an outlet. Plus watching Ninja Assassin, playing Assassin Creed series, and playing Mirrors Edge I got sucked into it

I want to do parkour ever since i was like 13 years old, but i was moving around a lot. The main reason i decide to start is because i want to find a purpose for now i guess, something to help me get up in the morning. I was kinda depressed for the last 3 years cuz of lot was going on, i was losing my grips then. I had a hard time achieving anything in high school, I was bored with everything, I was laid off from my jobs, mom used to kick me out of the apartment all the time(its funny cuz the bitch didnt have a job either), got bronchitis, soon after follow by retina detachment, and I was medically dismissed from the army. Then one day i was thinking of how much i love life when i was 13, 14 years old, so i want to get back into that mindset. So here i am, in college and totally dont know what to do except i want to push myself to train as hard as possible. Right now all i want to do is parkour, and nothing else.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I saw a video of someone doing Parkour and I was automatically inspired to do it.

Ever since then it has been one of my favorite things.
