Random knee pain
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:34:56 PM »
I haven't done anything lately (no working out or pk for two or three days) and this morning I woke up with a weird pain above and to the sides of my left knee cap. It feels like a weird type of pressure and is only painful when I fully extend my leg. I took some tylenol but it's not really doing anything
I was hoping to find something on google but I didn't. The closest was something with the iliotibial bands but that doesn't sound like it's exactly it

Edit: it just started hurting while I walk and it's giving me a slight limp

Not a professional opinion but u might of slept on it wrong and strained it if thats wat it is ice and stretching for a few days should help but if it continues to cause pain and a limp u needa see an orthopedic specialist. also take it easy

This same thing happened to me. The pain went away the next day. I think it's something to do with your quads because mine was (probably) caused by the knee exercises I was doing.

Stretch out your quads.

If the quads get too tight it will pull the patella too high up into the femoral groove for it... which can aggravate the area.

This might seem random, but which way do your knee caps point? It's like a triangle, and it SHOULD be pointing down... I just learned that from my PT guy today. If it's pointing out or in or some other direction, then it's being pulled unnecessarily, and that could be causing the pain.

Such as patellofemoral syndrome...
