2 Questions.
« on: July 23, 2010, 09:14:44 PM »
1.) About a year ago, I stopped skate boarding. About two months ago, I started parkour & free running. Now, I haven't had the money to go out and get running shoes, so currently I still have my Fallen's, which are skate shoes. They are a little worn, nothing major though. But for some odd reason, they mess me up... I think. I recently have been able to land my front flips... Wearing my shoes, I can't land a flip unless I'm runnin and going off a small platform. Without my shoes, I can get a flat ground flip, and platform flips... I don't want to make something that sounds like an excuse, but could my troubles be caused because of my shoes?

2.) I just began trying to block. Is there any way to tell... For Certain, that I'm doing it correctly? And what are the best ways to build up good blocking skills? Like... Is it in the leg muscles?

Thanks in advance :)

1. Shoes can definitely affect things a little bit but it's really whatever you are comfortable in and what works for you.

2. Video yourself and compare with other videos of good blocking. Doing it a lot will help you get better at it, also plyometrics and anything that's going to make your leg muscles in general stronger as well as your posterior chain.

check out all these tutorials, but also the blocking one for your question and to use as reference
