If you can hold it for 10 seconds, split a minute up into 5 second reps (so 12 total) and go through all 12 with at least 30 seconds rest between sets.

You can also go for longer holds in tucked position as well as bending one knee, then the other throughout a long set.

I can't other anymore advice. but I have a similar question.

My l-sits are ok now but I want to progress on to v-sits. I can only hold an "almost" v-sit for a second.
So ye, basically the same question, anyone have any tips for v-sits?

Are V-sits the same as L-sits but then with your legs open???
If that is what you mean. i found it easier to perform them if I moved my balance point (hands) backwards a bit.

Don't know if this is what you mean. Sorry if it's no help. ???

Sorry this isn't really one topic, but...

V-sits are basically the same. Go into the position with bent knees first, then open to a full V-sit. Hold for a sub-maximal time, rest "enough" and repeat until you reach 1:00 or more.

Make sure you keep your back straight when doing a v-sit or at least try.  its extremely difficult.

thanks. stephan, a v-sit is an l-sit where your legs are brought up towards your body so that and you make a V shape.

I'm doing dips and then just trying at them until I can get my legs above my hands.

*good* V-seats REQUIRE significant hip flexor strength and good hamstring flexibility.

Make sure your stretch often and preferably have the splits and a good pike stretch.

Work hip flexors by doing hanging leg raises, v-ups/straddle-ups, basically any sort of leg exercise which lifts your legs in front of you.

Do you know a good substitute for the pull up?
Not that I don't want to do them, but because I don't have anywhere to pull up on :'(

not to hijack the thread about L-sits, but I'm sure you have door jams to do finger-tip pullups to your shoulder; unless you are at the park with your computer, which I am sometimes, but then you would probably be able to find a tree or swingset or climby thing, etc.

yeah, keep them up :) Part of that is flexing the quads to pull the knees tight. Part fo it is probably also the hip angle to the body. That's why these are such a great exercise!!
