Backward kong/Sticky Vault
« on: October 12, 2006, 01:24:02 AM »
Well, here two vaults I've done.

Backwards kong- Really hard in my opinion, hit the rail backwards and do a kong!

Sticky Vault- a failed attempt at any vault in which one doesn't let go of the rail in fear of a severe ass-smashing.

I don't know what you mean by backwards kong.  Can you be more specific.

Lol, sounds like I could use a video of these super sly nija-esque techniques that you employ.  I'm not sure i've seen anyone attempt either.
"Empty your mind,
Be formless, shapeless, like water.
Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup.
You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle.
You put water into a teapot, it becomes the teapot.
Now water can flow, or it can crash,
Be water my friend"

Backwards kong as in instead of facing the rail before you kong it, you have your back to the rail and kong it.

Once we can walk, We Run.

In my opinion the backwards kong is not really that good a move. If you listen to Sebastien Foucan about Parkour in Jump London(im pretty sure its London but it might be Britian) he says you should NEVER be going backwards because then your not going the most efficient way you could.

yeah the "sticky vault" ive done once or twice. Ive actually got a good bail video of me holding on for dear life as i was doing a monkey vault and then when i looked over the rail i realized how high i was and decided i didnt want to do it anymore so i just didnt let go and flew over the rail and smashed my shoulder into the other side, it was quite fun  ;)

There was good video footage of a sticky vault performed by a guy who posts on here. I can't remember his name now, but he has that big rubber ball in his back yard that he flips off of.. I am pretty sure that's him. I will try to find that video and post up the link so you can see it inshallah.

Explain the necessity for a backward kong? I'm having a hard time seeing it or it's usefulness

Where would you use a backwards kong? backwards safty is less hazerdous to my Boys and pratical for topping out for an angled wall pass.

It is pretty much a freerunning move.

sticky vault is when you decide that you can't land the vault while your in the middle of DOING that vault and then dont let go of the obstacle in order to save you from a bad wipe-out

as for the reverse kong... I could see it being used in place of a 180 vault... reverse kong then underbar or reverse kong to be facing the way you came so that you can plant on a wall or something... maybe a reverse Kash would be best though... like a reverse dive over the object then a grab and swing
