I knew who that was just from seeing the name on the link. I'm reading his book right now. My cousin was one of the CRO's that went in to recover the bodies of Spartan 01, It was a rough deal. While I don't intend to go the SEAL route, I've got a lot of respect for those guys, grew up around SEALs, there's a handful of them in my family currently serving, and another handful that retired. I've never met him, but the fact that he is a SEAL makes him alright in my book.
That gym can help you out a good bit, but don't neglect calastinic's. Body weight training transfers over well into weight, but not vis versa, so keep that in mind, and don't neglect your legs, a lot of people neglect lower body in weight training. Make sure to stretch out good to, and don't try to be superman, start from the bottom and work your way up, that and eating right should help prevent injury, as well as proper technique. As for what I'm doing, don't sweat it, your already probably in better shape then 90% of the USA, I do crazy stuff, most of which I don't recommend, Since I been hanging around this Force Recon guy, I've passed out 5 times, puked several dozen times, and woke up in worse pain then I've ever been in. I've been starved, sleep deprived, wet, and cold, so trust me your not missing anything great haha. But I'm now doing this:
bench press working out with 160lbs
bench press max 190lbs
50 rep sets of push ups, anywhere from 400-700 reps a day
300 rep sets of set ups, usually 2-3 sets a day
50lbs KB snatch
running 4 miles on an empty stomach
3 correct muscle up's at a time
30 reps of hanging leg raises per set, 3-8 sets
And to much more to list. I swear even my hair hurts. But I'm getting closer and closer to my goal every day so it's worth it. Your body is only limited by your mind, set your mind to something and you can do anything, as long as you don't have an ounce of doubt you will be fine. Control the mind and you control the body.
