Trainings of Zanadoo
« on: September 28, 2006, 09:26:50 PM »
Start off with an intro I s'pose... My name is Chris Brown, internet alias Zanadoo. I live in Atlanta, GA and have been doing Parkour since Sep, 2005.

I've decided to start one of these training journals. I've just recently hit my one year anniversery of starting Parkour and when I go back and look at my previous videos I can see that I have improved so much. The problem lies in the fact that after a year I think I should be better than I am so I'm beginning to start a rigorous workout to better myself both overall physically and to improve my Parkour.

Goals:
12 Pull Ups (7 now)
20 Dips (6 now)
10 Pistols on each leg (2 Right, 1 Left)
5 Muscle Ups (0 now)

Parkour:
Master the climb-up
Perfect the Roll on Concrete
Underbars!
Improve body control on vaults

Haven't quite figured out a workout routine but I'll be working on that in addition to my 3x a week Parkour training and Bouldering weekly. Gotta remember to get a pull-up bar to put in my doorway...

Went to Atlanta yesterday to get the majority of my filming done for my next video. Everything went well and I got some new techniques down like Kong-Cat and Kong-Precision and I managed to kong over two picnic tables side-by-side. Also did a couple other cool things, overall a good day and an amazing workout. Went out tonight but didn't do a whole lot cuz my body was sore, just kinda goofed around a bit, worked on rolls for a little while and drilled a few vaults. Thats about it.

Went into Atlanta today and did a little bit of training. Nothing to entensive, I just learned how much I absolutely love Kong-Precisions. They are a blast and they are everywhere, beyond doing some of those I worked a little bit on my climb-ups and I learned that my speed vault sucks. So thats something that I need to drill a few hundred times over the next coming weeks.

As far as strength training goes I got my pull-up bar today and installed it in my doorframe. I did a few pull ups and some L-sits and I think its going to be an amazing training tool. As for tomorrow I think I might do a little work on the bar but I'll focus mainly on stretching so I'll be ready to go for my training session tuesday.

Went out tonight and did a little parkour and strength training. Drilled speed vaults, rail balance, and cat balance mostly. Managed to do 10 dips today so I'm that much closer to that goal, tried doing a muscle up but still cant get past the pull-up stage. Tomorrow is bouldering time for me which means my upperbody is sure to be exhausted.

Had to skip bouldering club last night so instead I beat the crap outta my body with a heavy upperbody and hand exercises. Did a lot of pull ups, free hangs on one hand, worked on my back lever, and did some sit ups and inclined push ups.

I was really angry today because I had to do calculus and calculus makes me angry so I went out just now and did 8 pull ups, a new record for me. I'll be going out later tonight to do some parkour training. I also figure this is a good time to update my goals as of this far and maybe add a few more.

Goals:
12 Pull Ups ( 8 )
20 Dips (10)
10 Pistols on each leg (2 Right, 1 Left)
5 Muscle Ups (0)
1-hand hang for 1 min (about 10 sec on each hand)

Hadn't updated in a while, just been doing my regular Parkour training and strength training everyday. Had to update tonight tho. Me and my friends in Marietta went out to do some Parkour and got busted by a police officer, all in all I guess it went fine, the guy was kinda rude and just told us not to come back to where we were training ever again. So then we went back and did some strength training and I got closer to a muscle-up than ever, I managed to get 1 elbow over the bar, I can feel my first muscle-up coming by the end of the month then its just increasing the # to meet my goal.

No one showed up for our training session tonight which was a bummer at first but then I realized it was cool because I haven't got a chance to train alone in a long time. Found a new place to practice precisions but the main focus of tonight was on climb-ups since I want so badly to be able to do them well. I did manage to find out that pulling my body weight up on a ledge is vastly different from pulling up on a bar b/c I can do climbups on a bar area just fine but on a ledge its crazy hard. So now every day or so I gotta remember to do pull ups on a hanging ledge plus the pull ups on my pull up bar. If anyone else has tips for climb-up, strength and/or technique plz PM me.
