Monroe/West Monroe Parkour/Free Running Team
« on: May 01, 2010, 09:54:34 PM »
My name is Joshua Johnson, I am 26, and looking for people to hang out with and run with.
I have a partner who usually comes with me to the local parks, but I am looking for others to share the experience with.

My experience as a runner is limited to running, jumping, vaulting, ground flips (still working on the front flip, corkscrew and butterfly), the roll (learned to love that move), climbing and overall I am a beginner even though I have been doing things of this sort since I was in elementary school.

If anyone is interested please contact me on facebook or email me at shadowrealmx13@hotmail.com

Let's let North-east Louisiana know that we run the same track they do, just with a little more fun in it!

I'm president of Tech's Parkour/Freerunning/Tricking club in Ruston. You're not far from us.

On a side note, why are you working on corks and b-twists if you can't do frontflips yet? There's a reason for tricking class levels.  :P

i am still learning the tricks as i get the confidence and time to train and do them.
A buddy of mine and I went out to forsythe park today and ran for 5 hours on and off.
i can now officially do the kick the moon. sounds wierd, but i am a very liberal practioner.
thats why i am looking for others. so that i can learn by site, youtube does help a bit, but not enough.

i am still figuring out the trick to the front flip, gotten close and getting closer to that fun fun landing. something about seeing the world going end over end in front of me, makes me unconfident going into it. am getting better though.
if i am ever that way i will give you a heads up so we can meet.

I spend more time tricking then anything else man. I'm in the same boat as you. I ask why though because it doesn't matter what you train it's all about progression and front flips are the most basic tricking skill there is apart from stuff like Pop 360's, Aerials, Au Batido's, Backside 720's, 540's and sideflips. But on the other hand, corks and b-twists are much more advanced (moreso corkscrew then b-twist). So what I was asking was why are you working on harder stuff when you don't have the simple stuff pat.

for some reason i see the list you said as more challenging than what i have been trying.
you are prolly right, i need to go back to basics and bring my core skills up to par before trying the advanced skills.
heck, half the list you mentioned i have not looked up so my knowledge of such maneuvers is nil.
will have to research those things to get a better idea.

if i ever get the chance, i will try and come out there and run with yal, or more or less observe til i have a better understanding of the situation and the maneuvers performed.
i have just realized it, but when it comes to parkour, i am still learning and consider myself a novice at best. Humility is the key here.
I know my limits and push them as far as i can every chance i get.

if you have any advice, i am more than willing to hear it. i am always open to criticism (for lack of a better word).

i just realized that we are talking about two different things!

LOL!!!

I was confused.

I actually am not working on cork screws or b.twists yet, due to the fact that I cannot do a front flip!

I appreciate it. will contact you later.
