Show them this article to begin with.

http://www.americanparkour.com/content/view/3499/378/

After that just have them explore the site and read some of the articles that have been posted on here. That's as good as a start as any. Also show them that you are dedicated to learning and following the discipline of parkour. Eventually they might come around to see your side.

Well, Sophie, there's no easy way to do it.

Unfortunately, we as a people tend to avoid contact with each other, allowing other things to become more important in our lives, lately, making face to face conversation difficult.

The best advice I can give you is to sit your parents down, seriously, but respectfully, and tell them with a straight face and an even tone, that this is very important to you. You want them to understand this about you, and you want them to be a little more involved in your life. So, you want them to at least try and read this stuff and understand why this means so much to you. Explain to them how Parkour makes you feel, why you want to do it so much. Explain to them that you want them to be supportive, because this is your passion.

You're their daughter, and they love you. Therefore, if you handle this carefully and sincerely, they'll give your situation some thought. Your bond as a family will win in the end, and if you're serious in your passion, they'll understand and support you. Trust me on this one. Did the same thing with my family a while back.  ;D

Lol, probably not a good idea. Did make me laugh though!

Soph, the point we're trying to make is to be insistent. You have to make them realize that this is not just a passing fancy for you. If they STILL choose not to listen, then you can continue on knowing you've done everything in your power to involve your parents. They have no right to argue should they still choose to ignore you. (Of course, you shouldn't say that. It's just something you should keep in mind.)

but seriously, my mom still doesn't know i do parkour (been doin it for a few weeks) i'll probably try it out once i get good and i'll "randomly" do a flip of something and when she says "nice...make sure you dont break your ass doing that" (she'd say that) i'll say i've been practicing for months and conditioning, then i'd explain what parkour is
