^lol so is ethanol, but its fine in moderation!     …define fine because asbestos is arguably fine in moderationtoo and how much is moderate?

The more we mess with the foods the worse they are for us.
Is there a trend here?

Generally, but not always.  Having highly processed foods can be optimal for certain situations - such as whey protein isolate to supplement post-workout nutrition.  All other things being equal, it is far superior than a protein that is more slowly absorbed.

If you eat paleo, though, you have nothing to worry about in that respect and it generally lends itself to a healthy lifestyle without much worrying about what you put into your body.

I didn't read the article but HFCS isn't really "evil" its just evil in the fact that it is in absolutely everything.  Eating an ice cream cone with HFCS once every other month isn't going to kill you or even decrease life expectancy or increase the rate of disease/injury.  Most people eat about 2000000x more than that, though.

HFCS Is probably like many other things bad for you if you drink to much, If it is Watered down I doubt it would hurt your body overly, If it did both my dad and mom would probably be in bad shape because up till about ten years ago they drank soda like it was water,
Also my dad makes a killer pancake syrup with that stuff, If it hurt your body to much dont u think more people would have shown up with bad signs? maybe more have actually but the point is most things are good in moderation, Even alcohol ( Tho I doubt I will ever drink it) is good for you in moderation, The problem is people just dont stop drinking the stuff.
