Er, hello~
« on: March 20, 2010, 01:49:51 AM »
Hi, my name is Lizzy and I'm 17. I'm, seriously, a fresh-cut [like, started yesterday] beginner.  :-X I know, lame. But anyway, I live in the DeKalb area and looking for anyone that could teach me some stuff. I can do a half-ass'd looking PK roll, a cartwheel, and I'm working on a one-hand cartwheel for an aerial and a reverse kick-up. I'm not sure if any of that is good.  :-[ So I'm looking for someone in the DeKalb/Aurora range that would like to meet up some time. [I don't have a car/lisence yet so shits on me....] I'm actually pretty shy when meeting new people [face to face] so please be nice.  :-[ Lol. <3
If you're gonna get in trouble for hittin' someone, might as well hit 'em as hard as you can.

Hi, a good place to start would be to join up on Chicagoparkour.net.  There are a LOT more people from the area that frequent those boards more than here.  I have a few friends that go to dekalb that train a little and there is actually a training class tomorrow in Plainfield if you were interested in that.
Here's some more info on that.  They just started these up and they'll go on every week.

You should definitely join up on Chicagoparkour.net though.  It'll be a lot easier to meet up with people to train.

i have to second the ChicagoParkour.net/forum
it's much better for connecting for parkour in Illinois
I like Tricking and Free Running, i don't think i actually do parkour, because i do it for fun and self expression, which would change the term to free running.

I'm already on chicagoparkour.com and maybe it's just me but I can't really seem to find things near my area. :( Am I not searching right? I don't wanna havta travel hour(s) just to train with a few people that I probably won't even feel comfortable around.... :-\ :-X

you would have to try making it to Downtown Chicago for a larger Parkour Jam

Ouch, we're all pretty friendly.  It true that there probably won't be as many jams in Dekalb, but we do have a good number of people in that area.  I got a bunch of friends that go to school at NIU that used to train and then there is Jim (Pirate on Aero) he was in the NUI newspaper a couple months ago.  I know you said you can't drive, but if you were to be able to get to St. Charles we have weekly gym sessions there, or there's a group in Aurora.
