Long kong vs. quadruped run
« on: March 09, 2010, 04:35:16 AM »
An extended long/double kong can be a tricky thing to master, and I'm wondering if it's more or less effective then just a single kong then kicking/jumping off like running on all fours.

A long kong is more fluid and aesthetically pleasing, but it's difficult to maintain forward momentum. A "quad run" on the other hand is not as fluid, but has more power and forward momentum is replenished with each step. A quad run also tends to give you more options when it comes to exiting the maneuver and/or attacking a second obstacle.

it all depends on preference and ability, i would rather double kong i don't ever quad run.

If you're thinking about running over the top of the obstacle, it might just be faster to run normally.  Our bodies aren't meant for QM, so it would be a bit quicker to just run on your legs.
Do it because you want to

the quad run is incredibly powerful (at least when i use it) and if you where to just run across an obsticle it would disrupt your flow. also its not very hard to do.

I find that Konging (whether one long kong or double kong) is more effective. It preserves forward momentum while still maintaining a fluid movement.

The QR needs more parts to move at a consistent rate. I think it is more work to QR than to Kong, but everyone is different. Do what fits your preference.

Learn both, you may not always be able to dive kong, double kong, or quadruped, etc. on the same objects so why not learn them all?

+1 for the dive roll, nobody uses these enough
