Aero, starting fresh.
« on: February 22, 2010, 04:11:13 PM »
Hey I am Aero, otherwise know as Andrew. I have been going at this thing since late November, but it wasn't until about mid December I started training. I started by conditioning but not alot, I did rolls and

landing but I went and skipped past them after not alot of effort.

So know I am starting fresh, so I need help with what to do.

I am 12 years old and of average phisical abillty, cant do very many pushups though... or sit ups... I have average vaulting abillity and can just barely do a kong/monkey.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

12 year old's FTW!

Keep doing small increments of pushups. When I was 12, (a year older now,) I started at 10 pushups... :(...

I did 10 for a week, then increased to 15. In two days, I went to 20, the next day, 24, the next, 30, the next 33, the next 35, the next 38, the next 45!!!

Keep in in small increments with other exercises. Vary what you do. Don't get bored! Switch it all up every once in awhile! Remember, PULLING exercises are better than PUSHING exercises. Do pullups as often as possible.

Hmm... ask Andy Keller. Or one of the other super-person WO beast guru's that lurk on the fourm.

I couldn't either. Just hang from a bar, do so movements just hanging. Try and jump up to the bar. (Assuming it's an overhead monkey bar.)

Progression, bro.

Keep documenting your progress. Make videos, or get pictures. as many as you can. You'll want that info later.

Herro dare!

One idea if training regular pull-ups is not an option: pull-up negatives!!

Place something [like a stool] underneath the bar so that you can stand on it with your head over the bar. Then, grab the bar, lift your feet, and lower yourself down as slowly [but steadily and controlled] as possible. Do this as many times as you'd like, in sets or whatever.

PS: My Bboy name was Aero. :)

Does that work different muscles for a pull-up, or just use them less?

I don't see why 2" makes a difference. Bend your knees. Do an L-"sit" pullup.

Nope! It died because people don't visit the Welcome board very often...

Well... they're just jealous of my beauty then.
But back on topic.Do I really have to wait 1+ years to start taking drops about my height?
Cuz if so I might go insane before the time I am 13-14...please help me with this.
This has been really eating away at me forever now.

After training for four years, it is my advice to not take drops like that. I avoid 6 foot drops even now, after teaching dozens/hundreds of people, hosting seminars and performing in shows and photoshoots. Drops get boring, and they hurt. I know it seems overly said, but if you like your knees to be healthy, take it easy on the drops.

Trust me, the years go by really quickly.
