I think this is in the wrong section, should be in General Fitness.

Back on topic, bicep curls and chinups should help.

Do you want to be strong, or do you want a single part of you to be bigger look better?

You're going to need fairly different training methodologies for each.

pull-ups are the answer. If you cant do more than a few try doing jump pull-ups.

Actually if you feel like your Biceps are specifically the problem, Chin-ups would be better.

This thread is a lost cause already.  Seriously, we don't even know WHY he is asking this question.

What the heck does it mean to have out-of-shape biceps, OP?!

Getting this back on topic....

I have an awesome bicep workout that ive been doing for a while, and it has really shown some promise. (12" width to 14.5" in 3 months)

If you wanna get bigger biceps, you cant just grab 35lb weights, do 20 reps in each arm, feel a burn and so, WHOOP, IM DONE.  You gotta spend 15 minutes isolated on them.  Also, there are different parts of the muscle that need to be trained; inner, outer, and central.

Start off with isolated Bicep Curls, with an easy weight that you feel burn around 10-15 reps.  Do 4 sets of 10-15 in each arm.

Grab a bench bar... put your hands as close to each other as possible do 7 reps, then change hand position to about a foot between your hands, do 7, then widen yoru grip to about 2 feet apart and do 7.  Do sets of 3-4 and use a weight that is comfortable and easy until you get to about rep 14.

Now, do hammer curls, with the weights pointed away from you.  4 sets of 10-15.

If you can, do pull ups with your palms facing you on the bar.  4 sets of 10-15 ( or 4 sets of as many as you can do, if its only 4 each set, dont feet bad, 6 months ago i couldnt even do 1).

Now... increase how much weight you use for the isolated bicep curls, do 4 sets of 5 reps.  Make sure you can hardly do 5, or your not gonna get a good workout.  When your done... you should extend your arm and feel like your stretching your bicep out.

DONT OVERWORK IT THO, many people dont know when to stop.  If you feel any pain at all... your workout is done, and give it a 36hour rest.

This is my workout, i didnt incluse some harder workouts, but you will learn em as you go.  Good luck! :)

While on the crapper, hold on to something and crap as hard as you can. also, scream very loud. This will get your biceps ripped.

Your proposal is ridiculous.  It is quite likely that he has no idea what he is doing and thinks that this is going to solve the problem.  Isolating the biceps with 20 rep sets is ridiculous even if his goal is for size -- which you assumed, but is not the case.

We don't know what he REALLY needs.  Any advice is ridiculous - especially the advice you posted.

I posted a simple easy workout for him to do... its a mix between size gain and a stamina builder.  Its an OFFER, im not saying he needs to.  Different people have different training needs, some workouts work differently for other people, hence why i offered him a broad simple workout.  He might not be doing the right training for his biceps.  Or hes over doing it.  If he posted up saying there was pain and he doesnt know why his biceps turn bright purple when he works out, YEAH, me posting that workout would be CRAZY!  But, he asked for training ideas and help, so i gave it to him... I offered help, your slamming my idea when this could be exactly what he needs.  I never told him to do 20reps either, but that wouldnt gain size, that would be a stamina builder.

I'm really not trying to be a dick - but irresponsible advice is worse than no advice at all.  We don't even know what he means here by out of shape biceps!

Isolated biceps when they don't need isolation can cause muscle imbalances that can result in some pretty horrible injuries...like dislocated shoulders and labrum damage!

I know, im not trying to be a dick either.  Were just stating our opinions.  ;D  My advice isnt irresponsible.  Advice is defined as... an opinion or recommendation presented to someone.  To me, "Out of Shape" means he is lacking the power or speed or strength he should have in them.  He also said he cant get them "back".  Which says to me he has had strength in them before and knew it, and is trying to get it "back".  A light workout like i posted would take months to get it to the point where it would imbalance his muscles, and thats assuming he doesnt workout anything but his biceps.  What i wanna know from him is...

If he has had any injuries to his arms in the near past.

If his other muscle groups are gaining while his biceps simply are not.

And how much he actually knows about workouts and muscle

Chris' advice is a bit more than  an opinion. He has a high honors degree in physiology and he has a lot more credentials than most of us.

I hate when people say workouts are opinions. There are a lot of studies that differ, but a lot of the studies are just dead wrong because they exclude certain variables on purpose because they either didn't know or they're scamming the results. So just for future reference, don't call science a matter of opinion, it's a matter of logic.

---

By the way, biceps aren't really that important.
