New to Parkour.
« on: September 10, 2006, 12:37:20 PM »
Hello!

I'm Morgan, 15 Years Old and just started to do a little Parkour.
I have a nearby Elementary School that has 3 Playgrounds that I currently mess around with. I already have 1 Blister from the monkey Bars =\.

So I was wondering, is 15 too young to start Parkour? I think I'm the only one who does it in my whole Neighborhood to be honest..

And can someone please tell me the Basics, and how to Avoid Blisters? ( I refuse to wear Gloves)

Thank you,
Morgan

hehe wiki again runcincy ;D. good choice.  Its nice to see some new faces around here, and id just like to say hi Hyphnx!  Yep your old enough, im 16.  and as far as blisters, just keep at it and soon your blisters will turn into callouses and wont hurt anymore.  as for now you cant really avoid them, or at least I dont suggest it.

simply think of the pain your blisters cause you as the feeling of progress. Plus blisters make your hands look tough and manly hehe.

Is it Parkour or Free running?

I've been hearing both and I have no clue what to call it.

theres not much difference between the 2. freerunning consists of flips and things of that nature. parkour only the most efficient way possible. not flips.

Theres nothing that says you have to do one or the other. But on our homepage, there is a box in the upper right corner that says what parkour is and isnt. that might help a bit. You can do whatever you please, the names are for reference purposes so you dont end up calling something that you did in training the wrong term.

Good luck with everything and we hope to see your progressions!

There's this 1 thing I saw. Just like put your hands in like Cold then Hot water. and your blisters will pop up and just try to scrape the dead skin off, repeat like 1 or 2ce. Myself I kinda ignore them they dont really bother me but,  yet again I dont have any, lol. I need to go out more and try. :) Just my friends dont do that. They think its not cool enough, but when I get some moves down pack they'll be wanting to do some. ;)

There is a slight problem... I picked the Dead Skin. Today I will be heading to the local Elementary School. My sister will be bringing a camera, so pics will be up soon.

torn skin on the hands is a pain but it should not prevent you from practicing. Just tape it up or something and deal with a little pain.

If they are just calluses then don't worry they'll thicken and actaully help you out.
