SethH, Hi
« on: February 06, 2010, 07:10:44 PM »
My name is Seth, I'm 12. I'm extremely new to Parkour, and already have a few injuries. I can tell it's going to be a rough rode, learning it, but I'm up for the challenge as Parkour is now a part of my daily schedule.

I live in Perry, Florida, and I Freerun/Parkour with my friend, as known on this site, Huntero10. There's not much here to practice with, but I make the best of what I have. I look forward to meeting you all!  ;D

Were practicing all weekdays sept for thursday and the all the weekend. Yes, were beginners and like Seth said theres not much to practice on maybe a few rails here and there but that's it. I've also have a minor injurie but that's not stopping us from doing what we love to do best. If ANYONE has ANY tips at all that'll be great and help us out alot and looking forward to meeting you guys also.

What is injured? I find it's better to take a few days or weeks off to let injuries heal rather than training on them and continuing to make it worse. Take it from me - I had a knee injury that I trained on, and it got worse and worse until I could no longer walk without pain. I had to take almost six months off to let it heal. Much better to let it heal in the first place than risk permanent damage, especially with your whole careers ahead of you.
Also beware of overtraining.  That can cause overuse injuries. 9 or 10 hours a week is a lot, especially if you're new. Practice a lot of rolls, make sure your landings are solid, and do a lot of QMs. Conditioning is very important to avoid injuries.
If you have any questions about what I've said here, or anything else, feel free to ask or PM me - I love to help people out.
Anyway, welcome, train smart, and good luck! :D

My butt. I slipped while attempting a tic tac (It had just gotten done raining). It's healing, though, as well as my thighs, which were sore from the fall, and my arm which had been cut jumping off a shed. So I haven't been training to hard, not wanting to cause permanent damage.

Also, I'll train smart. I will in the place were I train for 2-3 hours, still, but if I began to hurt I'll calm down on what I do, and just plan things out for when I'm feeling better.
