30 days of Paleo
« on: February 01, 2010, 12:43:42 PM »
Chris Salvato and myself are starting a 30 days of strict paleo today. I wish I had thought to post this yesterday, but anyone is welcome to join. I am starting this thread to track thoughts, feelings and experiences with anyone who wants to give it a try.  :)

I would love to try but I will need to look it up. :) I might just do this.

Was thinking about doing this, but the doctor's telling me to eat my oatmeal.  Was really interested; might try implementing this some time after oatmeal isn't such a big issue.

Uhhh, Paleo is probably way healthier.

But there's worse things you can do than oatmeal. If you feel fine on it then you're probably OK.

Just make sure you get some quality fats.

My diet is pretty clean, all told.  Between the EVOO, nuts, nut butters, avocados, and fish oil supplementation, I think I'm good on fats.

To clarify: oatmeal is a measure to control some minor hypercholesterolemia.

oatmeal helps minor hypercholesterolemia -- but that is because of the amount of soluable fiber in oatmeal.  If you eat a load of other [paleo friendly] veggies with lots of soluble fiber you get the same effect.

Just did 28 days of paleo plus dairy, lost 14 pounds but I was also calorie restricting running a deficit of 2000 calories per day. I was however able to maintain strength, energy levels, and lean body mass quite well which i attribute to the high quality of the diet. Only got about .5 grams of protien per pound BW found anymore then that with restricted fat and carbs was unpalatably and gave me digestive problems. Taking a week of then will go back to calorie restriction but incorporating some grains and legumes and seeing if that changes my results.
I shall not fear, fear is the mind killer the little death that precedes total obliteration

I will face my fear, I will let it pass over and through me and were it is gone, I will turn the inner eye and see its path, and only I will remain.

Vitamin D is also a good way to control hypercholesterolemia...

I'm down!!! Even though I'm starting later than you guys.... (........) But that's fine with me.

I'll re-read what I can't eat.

I honestly have one major goal in life, and I will do whatever I can to accomplish it.
