As you know from the other thread where I told you I used to smoke a pipe... Yes, I agree cold turkey is the best, but it is very hard to do.
You will seriously have to force yourself to make that decision to not smoke another one. You will want to smoke one. You will bargain with yourself that "Just one", or "Just this time", or "Just a 1/2 of one", or "I'm getting cranky, one will calm me down". DON'T DO IT. You will be very persuasive with your arguments, and it will seem like "It's no big deal", but it is.
Don't "replace" your cravings with something else. Don't snack, even a healthy one, "instead" of smoking. Because that day when the craving hits, and you have no food around, but someone else is there with cigs, it will be really hard to resist bummin one.
The hardest times will be those times or places you always smoked. i.e. after dinner, in the car to work, sitting down to watch TV. Just grin and bear it.
You never know what will trigger a craving. I was doing ok after a while, then I drove past the store where I used to buy my tobacco. That caused one. Even wierd shit, like certain smells. For instance the smell of turpentine triggers a craving in me. (It's a problem, I live near a park where they compost pine needles and it smells just like that)
Just remember, we ALL want you to succeed. Just think how awesome you will feel when you can tell us another week has passed without a cig!
