haha, yeah i know what you mean like my ex use to call me a show off and i was just practicing i would understand if i was about to do a flip and i was like "HEY IM ABOUT TO FLIP LOOK AT ME" but no i just kinda do it.

True, and sadly, there are people like that who think they're freerunning. I see a lot of them at the gym who move like they've never run in their life and certainly haven't put any effort into conditioning, go around and try to flip off stuff with bad form just for the sake of showing off, they're not willing to train the basics they're just worried about learning the next rick so they can do it in front of their friends. I don't consider them freerunners, but they still give us a bad name.
A state of mind when you are performing a physical movement that is neither too simple or too complex. Your focus rules out all other mental processes, your mind has no time for words, worries, or distractions. There is only timing, spatial awareness, and the feeling of satisfaction as you land

my input on this is to just tell them the truth.. "im not showing off, im doing what i love.. if you want to stay and watch your very welcome too and to please keep your negative comments to yourself" that would be the perfect time to tell them the true meanings of parkour and freerunning.. what its really all about.. get them on your side.. it could change their life :)

very well put....ive had a couple ppl ask me what im doing..and it give me a chance to tell them about something i love....

most of the time wen im called a show-off. i either ignore it or just tell them that im not trying to im just doing what i love....

and i do agree that we are not doing this to perform for ppl...of coarse they are free to watch and i dont mind ppl watching.

To be fair they have to start somewhere. They just see something that looks cool and they think that they will try it out. they probably don't even know about the basic moves. If they keep doing it they will learn about the conditioning side of it because they will have to to get better. If not they'll just quit eventually. That's what a gymnastics gym is for.
Konging low stuff is stupid. Just jump over it. Or just do a cool flip over it.

When I finish learning a Webster thats going to be about the only flip i learn, (i'm generally a parkour purist)  but one of the fun things I plan on doing is while walking to class or something just randomly do it and keep walking like nothing every happened,  not show off but to confuse people mostly,  I enjoy that more than ppl going cool your awesome that just bothers me.   And the other little part of that is to inspire people to go beyond what they think they can, i think of it kinda like the way Danny I. said in his choose not to fall video.

I agree I started PK just to be able to do cool stuff. But when I learned the real meaning I changed.
Weight training alongside parkour always benefits, it never takes away.

True, one reason why i sounded so harsh was because I'd just finished watching another video where they just flip off random objects the whole time with crappy form and bang up their joints over and over and they always have "freerunning" in the title. I love flips too, and yeah we all started somewhere similair, I just think there's more to freerunning than tricks, otherwise it would be called "tricking".

I would be like "This is what I do for fun, I like doing it its not to show-off or anything."
