Frontflips

I'm having an incredibly difficult time landing fronts, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong. I know I'm blocking and doing all the other stuff I'm supposed to. If you like to teach fronts, please contact me on AIM and I will send you a video of how I flip and you tell me how I'm screwing up.

Do you tuck? If so Then tuck harder. Doesn't work Tucking to early= not enough height. Wait till the peak of the jump. If that doesn't help keep practicing. ;D

Focus on jumping UP!  Don't completely focus on that though, or you'll mess up your rotation.  Jump a bit higher, get a good tuck in.  I'd recommend trying it in a safe gym area first though if you don't have experience. ;)

Or if you don't have a gym just lay out a bunch of pillows as padding.

Here is my advice.  Make sure that you are blocking.  Even on a cement surface, blocking will get you much more height on a front flip than just a standard skip.  You also need to jump straight up.  it'll feel weird because you will be traveling forward with your back perpendicular to the ground instead of angled, but trust me.  That should last a very short period of time, then tuck.   And don't roll out of the flip man.  You should be able to complete the flip with good form, standing up, and then if you want to keep down impact you should roll from there.

I had a hard time landing fronts for a long time too, I used to always land squating or with too much weight going backwards.  It is usually just that you need to get more height.  I went to a gymnastics coach and he told me that I had to get higher so he put up a pad that was about 4 ft tall and told me to flip over it and I landed it on the first try, so now everytime I do a frontflip I try to imagine that there is a tall object in front of me that I have to flip over and it helps me get extra height.  You could try flipping over short rails and stuff, it might help you get extra height.
