3rd times a charm right?

This Journal is to keep me motivated and hopefully will not become a form of shame a year or two from now when I have completely forgotten about it and literally "google" my own name.

This is a record of my "Starting Point"
I'm 168 fully clothed 1/11/2010, I'm 5'10 and 26 years old with two children... here goes... well... everything...

My current activities that could serve me well:
Bujikan (ninjitsu) on Wednesday nights
Trying to get back into exercise and riding my bike, got an indoor trainer and just got exercise room back together a few weeks ago.

Goals for this Month:
-20 Pushups every day
-50 Situps every day
-15 Chinups every day
-On Bike 15 mins hard 3 times a week
-Stretching 5 - 10 mins 3 times a week at least

Today's workout:
Found this website!
Did 20 pushups!

Diet:
Yikes, do you want to know?
1/4 a box of frosted mini wheats
2 16.9 oz bottles of water
lean cusine pizza and lean cusine chicken and rice
oatmeal cream pie... i know i know that's the problem...
1 10 oz cup of grape juice
That's as of 3:22pm

Today's Recap:
Glad I found this site!
2-3 inches of snow on the ground and has been for 2 weeks or more... now this is a proper Ohio Winter!

Summary:
This is the beginning of something, just you watch.

your doing good, probably better than me. What I like to do is go to the gym to swim, along the lines that may help. Just keep pushing!

Thanks so much for posting something!
Having some support I think will help keep me commited in these early stages.
I gave up my Y membership so no access to a pool right now but i'll keep that in mind.
Stick with it my friend!

Today's workout:
(in this order)
-Stretching 10 mins
-On Bike 10 mins (didn't miss read today, used the recumbent bike on a high setting since i had limited time)
-15 Chinups
-60 Situps
-20 Pushups

Offical day two and i'm still with it.
Had Bujikan class last night, instructor bounced my head off the floor, ouch!
But little to no harm done, small mats can equal buised knees and heads from time to time.

Today I got out of bed ontime and ready to move!
But my wife let me know we were out of milk and on the way to the bathroom I saw we were out of Toilet Paper, not optional stuff we are talking about.
So I had to cut corners to get to the store and back and still go pick up my mom before work... so i cut out my stretching and biking so i could at least do something prior to showering this morning.

Today's workout:
(in this order)
-15 Chinups
-60 Situps
-20 Pushups

Even though it's a little, it's still something.

Anyone reading this... even if it's only some push ups or crunches, it's something and something will take you farther than nothing!

anything is better than nothing, sometimes our life obstacles get in front of our goals, but if we can maintain to lure from our path and still manage to find our way back we can make it. So far i've managed to make that happen with myself by making it back to the gym in the mornings. Keep on pushing!  ;)

Swimming helps with full body movement, along with endurance and stamina. I used to swim for competition. that was when i was in best shape.
But Good job with keeping up on things adren. youre doing better than me. I just say im gonna work out. when all i do, is hit the snooze button, wake up, shower and head to school. I used to lift weights and do sit ups before my shower, but my sleeping habit is horrible... I need motovation too. and you just helped me with that. Thank you..... (this time next week, ill be unmotivated and couching it again)

Alright, I don't want anyone to think i was a complete washout this weekend.
I have two little one's at the house and I rarely get online on the weekends or in the evenings during the week.
No real solid numbers.
Did Chinups some saturday and sunday.
Also did pushups saturday and sunday.
Did leg lifts on saturday, oh and saturday evening my wife picked up a exercise ball (i don't know what it's called, but it's great for muscle control, big 65 cm ball), i've only used it for two different type of pushups, one type with my legs balancing on the ball and the other type with my hands balancing... that is really really tough and i've learned I have little, to no muscle control ;-)  Good to know!

Ok on to this morning:
Got up 20 mins late, stink'n snooze button!

Still got in:
70 setups
20 pushups
15 chipups

Oh, and I did stretch a bit maybe 6-7 mins, i was kinda sore this morning, probably from playing with my four year old... she would roll the exercise ball as hard as she could and i would dive and roll over it... good fun, but no scretchy first and some of the landings I took kinda hard.

Thanks for everyone that's been supporting me, you guys are great, if you don't already have a journal, get one!
I motivates me to know you guys are gonna be checking on my and would probably motivate each of you to know I'll be checking on you and I WILL!

Work hard because LIFE WAITS FOR NO ONE!!!

How did you motivate yourself? I need fitness for the military but i can't get out of bed unless its for running or pk.

It's not a "hurdle" (as some would term it), it's a 'mountain'!
Getting up earlier than you have to comes easier to some, but to night people or those that just can't find the motivation, I'm with you!
It's just plain hard.
I think going to sleep at a reasonable hour if at all possible is a BIG part of the equation.
Seriously try and get at least 8 hours of sleep.
So i need to get up no later than 7:30 to get a decent exercise in, So 11:30 should be the latest I'm going to bed or AT LEAST be in bed at that time.
That has helped considerably.
I also am the type of person that works the snooze button on my alarm so i set my alarm at 7:14 am (i like off numbers) that why I get to snooze it a few times till i'm my mind is awake enough to convince myself I'll feel better getting up and having excercised for the day than to have stayed in bed and be kicking myself the rest of the day for missing out on progress.
One last little thing... tell yourself "I'm getting up at 7:30 tomorrow no matter what!" (or whatever time you want to get up, you pick what works for you obviously)
Do it outloud and mean it.
Let it be your last thought when drifting off.

I came up with all this becuase on my way to work in the mornings, along the side of the highway I always see this guy in his early 20's running.
Always in just a par of shorts and running shoes.
Well remember that big snow everyone had around these ohio parts a month  ago that was on the ground for like 3 weeks, deep stuff to?
Well, dude was out running, only adding a par of gloves to his protection from the elements and do you know what i realized.. "I'm a wimp, and it is possible, you just have to decide how much it's worth to you, because it's all one big mental game."

So I decided right there I will not loose to myself or my excuses anymore.

"pick it and stick it"
Decide you are going to do it and stick all those excuses in the closet to gather dust, becuase if you have decided you ARE going to stick with it, it's not about deciding.. once you've decided you have NO CHOICE, YOU HAVE TO!

Be strong brothers.

This mornings workout, short and sweet:
Stretched 6-7 mins, kinda sore and stiff this morning couldn't seem to stretch through it, will try again before bed tonight.
100 situps!
30 pushups, working my way up slowly
15 chinups, gonna work on 20 tomorrow!
ran out of time... bummer

Tomorrow I'm back on the bike, gotta get that heart rate up a few times a week!

Mornings are the worst possible time to stretch, unless you get a good warm-up. Muscles will be cold, less elastic... You'll be more prone to injury

Best time for stretching is after your workout

You are right, I go from barely being able to touch my toes in the morning to doing splits in the evening... With my schedule and two little one's exercising in the evening is almost impossible, thus I've been working out in the morning, but i get in much much better workouts in the evenings and my body seems a lot happier with the process... makes one wonder why so many push for exercise first thing when the body is least prepared?  I understand the arguements I just don't agree entirely ;-)  My situation dictates that i must do it in the morning or risk not doing it at all.  But, If i had the choice, afternoon/evening/night would be far more appealing.

So note to everyone, be careful working hard first thing, try to have something on your stomach and get hydrated first... hurt is hurt and that sounds like a whole lot of timing wasted to get better.

And if your going to practice something... Try to do it right... Cause otherwise youll get a deadleg from not balancing on a palm spin on a pool table. your leg WILL hurt for a while. But i also dont stretch so that could be an issue
