KY gyms
« on: January 10, 2010, 07:20:38 PM »
I've been trying to get the owners of this gym to contact me about parkour lessons in Lexington, but they haven't responded and it's been a week. So if anyone knows any gyms in eastern or central KY hit me up. Either reply to this or send me an email it's james.bailey.77@gmail.com

I'm not too familiar with that area, sorry.

My suggestion is to contact a few of your local gymnastics gyms and find out when they hold open gym. That's the most convenient way to get yourself a little gym time. If you find a friendly gym, post them up in the sticky. Google searches work wonders.

Also be careful about Parkour class offerings, I've seen a couple posts around the forum that were just trolling for e-mails (a scam). If you find an actual class, look into the instructor as well as sit in on a few classes to be sure things are legit. If you aren't sure, be careful.

How would I tell if they are legit. Plus I can't find the address so... no way i could find out where the place is. The website url is    http://filebanana.com/parkour/
But last time i checked the site they had remodeled it so maybe they are still working stuff out or something before they can contact anybody. I have found other posts on different websites saying this place was great, but the post was from the maker of the website.

Ya, I'm pretty much positive that's a trolling site. I sent a warning to the guy that originally posted that.

Basically a legit class is gonna offer up more info: times, places, names of coaches, cost, information about what parkour is. They'll have a number to call or and e-mail to contact. They wont simply ask you to log your information for them to contact you. That's pretty sketchy.

As of now, I don't know of any Parkour classes being taught in KY. I'll be starting a basic class in Louisville in the spring, but that's a decent drive from Lexington.

As far as gym time goes, most gymnastics gyms have open gym hours where anyone can come and practice as they please. Try calling some of these. Ask them if they have open gym hours, what the cost is, and explain to them what you are training for. I'm almost positive you could find one among them that would be happy to accommodate you.
