Bare Feet
« on: January 08, 2010, 08:53:14 AM »
Before, I always thought barefoot training was a joke, and I laughed at it the same way I laugh at radical environmentalists. But recently I've discovered the power of bare feet, and their undeniably superior sense of freedom. I have made landings more soft barefoot than I have in those infernal 5.10 v2 hiking boots. So what I'm saying is: Shoes are a must for rough surfaces that may or may not contain rusty nails/glass, but when you have the option, barefoot training is definitely something to expand upon.

I only started barefoot training two days ago, but I'm so excited about how awesome it is that I had to say something. I hope that you can appreciate that.  ;D

So to give people something to respond to: What is your view on barefoot training? Got any tips to help out newcomers like me?

Illinois...But I have a basement with really high ceilings that was unintentionally, but perfectly designed for parkour, so I'm one lucky son of a monkey.

Or I just go running through two feet of snow with my two feet of steel. Or not. ;)

I've always wondered about training barefoot.. I run faster barefoot too. I'm just curious whether precisions would hurt alot more? ones on rails particularly...

If you land on the balls of your feet, it will hurt much less. :)

Huh, I haven't been there since I was like seven haha.

I don't plan on getting vibrams, but I do plan on getting really tough feet so that I can train with and without shoes.

that reminds of an episode of cops in vegas where some stoner was standing on a roof. When they finally got him down, the bottoms of his feet were completely roasted.

Yeah, I still do barefoot training. Regardless of weather, the one thing is that you do have to be careful about glass  and sharped edged rocks. But, barefoot training really does get the technique and proper form of movement down.

It's awesome.

last year I was walking 7 feet with flip flops in the snow. Sh*t that was painful. ;D

I'm going to try it tomorrow if I can.
