SJ/Philly Jam Planning Thread.
« on: January 05, 2010, 01:05:45 PM »
Primary-lets put down a set date and times.
Secondary- Come up with set places we will meet and jam
Tertiary- Put down final details and get HYPE!!

My Ideas for overall format.
First day should start semi-early 10am-11ish and end early evening 5pm-6pm this would give us plenty of time to get to two to three spots or make a good trek across either city.

- Second day should start later 12-1ish and go till people need to leave.  Reasoning for "early finish" on the first day and late start on the second day is so people have plenty of time to SLEEP, get a good breakfast, and get to where we plan on being.

Spots

SJ Spots
Atlantic City Inlet, Brigintine North School, Wooden Playground, Brigintine(castle parkish)  Jersey Shore
Veteran Memorial Park,EHT (castle park, sports fields, and a bmx track)  1/2hr west of Jersey Shore
Hammonton State Park (playground, sports fields, lake) 1 hr west of jersey shore
Rowan University (college campus) 45 mins  south east of Philly
Field of Dreams (wooden playground, sports fields, etc) 20-30 mins east of philly
Wildwood Boardwalk (playground, parcourse, etc) Jersey Shore Southern Tip

Philly spots

Art Museum (Has everything, close to other parks and spots)
Penns Landing (almost everything)
Drexel University (college campus)
Temple University (college campus)

Thanks so much for putting this up... I can't say for any more Philly spots, those should keep us occupied for a day if you ask me ;)

I like. I'm a definite for the Philly parts. But I'm not exactly sure about NJ, because I can only get there so early, on top of the fact that I'd have to leave later that night, followed by traveling back to Philly the next day. It would be a real pain. I sent you a PM Jaimen, not sure if you got it.

I'm down for it, especially since Rowan is where I am, haha.

Dave, if you need any help with transport or anything let me know, I'll be happy to help out.

EDIT: FORGET THIS FIRST PARAGRAPH.
Thanks a ton Gabe. My issue is just the fact of traveling back and fourth from NJ the first day. It would work out well if I had a place for the night after NJ jammage is over, and then just travel to Philly with whoever might be able to house. But if you could think of anything that would work fairly easy for me, go for it haha. I'm just not trying to feel like I'm pushing anyone to house, that's all.

Actually Gabe, I see something that could work if it's not too much of a pain. 30th Street Station is only a 21 min. drive from West Deptford: Link

On top of that, Rowan is only 26 minutes away from 30th Street: Link

If it's not too much to ask Gabe, for day 1 could you give me a ride from and back to 30th Street? I can offer gas money :D

Of course man, should be fine.

If you want or need it, you can always stay at my place on campus. I'm in an apartment with three other guys but the couch is comfy and always open haha.

Hey Ya'll it is just about time to get HYPE!!!!

Update:  It is supposed rain and/or snow Friday, but have highs in the forties on Sat and Sun.  If the weather follows what weather.com has predicted  be mindful of the following.

-FOD and Rowan will probably be slick so be aware of your environment and recognize probable hazards
- 40 degrees and above equals awesome training weather.
- Be fully aware of the POWER that this jam yields, if you underestimate it, it will destroy you.  :-Sarcasm

See ya'll soon

Good news / Bad news time.

Good News: Rowan PK will be hand Saturday to host everyone and make the jam as great as possible.

Bad News: I'm the school ski trip...which is Sunday. So no Philly jamming for me, unfortunately. (Sorry guys, PK is all year - skiing is only a few months)

Okay Gabe, I guess I wouldn't be staying over then... So would you just drop me back off to Philly at the end of the first day?

To anyone who may be wondering about the jam because of the weather, it is still on.

If the state makes an announcement about cars not being allowed on the road then that is a different story.

I'm not trying to convince not to go but...Rowan University is soup right now. Everything is wet and there's snow everywhere but the sidewalks and streets. I'm no fair-weather practitioner and I don't know what Philly is like but conditions are just poor. I'll go out if everyone is still set to train but, given a choice, I'd postpone till we had better training grounds.

After talking with Gabe this Jam is still going to happen, however going to Rowan is an option for each individual.  If there enough of a push to go Rowan then I'll go after FOD.

Philly on Sunday is still on Noon @the art museum.  I will be late for Philly due to registering kids for camp.
