I understand the differences. The reason I mentioned training vaults inside was because I was charecterising everything as an obstacle; including S/C, so sorry about the mix up :) I see everything as an obstacle that needs to be overcome in the same fashion; I keep forgetting that very few others see it the same way as me XD

You do not understand the basic concepts of S&C training so your analogy is actually nonsensical (not to be a dick).  You will not be benefitting the same muscle groups in the same way - not by a long shot.

Pistol squatting with heavy weights is quite challenging...I can do a pistol with nearly 60# held overhead -- either in the form of a kettlebell, rock, barbell or log or whatever you want.  Without scability, working up to that level is difficult - but I will let you find that out on your own.

If you are really interested in finding out why you are wrong, then you should really buy starting strength because i prefer not to rewrite one of the many books I have read when you can just buy them on your own :P

I personally think you need to learn more about what you are arguing so vehemently against before you start preaching to me ;)

I may be missing something really obvious, but if I squatted with a barbell and with a rock that are both exactly the same weight, why wouldn't they be training the same muscle groups in the same way?

And don't worry; I can accept that my concepts are wrong; I posted on here in the first place asking for suggestions, after all, so I'm not going to expect that I'm right all the time ;) I'm going to pick that book up and take a read, as it seems as if there is some important information there :)

About extremely large posts, it's an Internet Explorer 8 bug. I find it shocking, and pretty pathetic, that it has been around so long and hasn't been fixed. Download firefox and use that insted  ;)

I tend to disagree with this.  Yes, S/C can be perceived as an obstacle but thinking all obstacles should be tackled in the same way ignores the concept of "context dependence" and will wind up just hindering you in the future.  Everything needs to be considered in its own context and if you ignore that you will wind up doing things that are wildly inappropriate like approaching S/C similar to how you would approach skill training.

Rocks are not barbells.  The way you support a rock's weight is radically different from how you support the weight of a barbell and this is due to the novel shape of each rock.  Similarly, how do you propose that you will get a 300 pound rock onto your shoulders for a set of squats, exactly?  When it is there, what will make it not fall off of you?  The only rock that is practical in this case is a rock that happens to be shaped like a barbell.

Oddly shaped objects do not scale well for S&C.  Using these as a primary form of training sets you up for muscle imbalances and overuse injuries, imho.  Using them to supplement good S/C is essential, though.
