lifting people?

haha i know this may sound silly, but does anyone have any really good/safe workouts you could do for lower body using only people as weights?  i have seen people squatting with the fireman’s carry, and i know from experience that caring someone with a piggyback for long distances makes my glues SORE, but im wondering if there are any others that might be good without being dangerous to your joints or to the person being carried ::)   fireman's carry up stairs?

Pistols... lunges

If you're conditioned enough to handle it I would say any of those to one leg broad jumps or vertical leaps.

Vertical leaps, box jumps, etc. are also decent although overdoing it is easy

I thought about pistols, but the chance of someone being able to do them with at least 100lbs of live weight is unlikely. Plus I don't think that would be so great for the knees if you were to fall/lose balance.

ya the stairs would be good! lunges too, but im not man enough to do a pistol with 160 extra lbs... yet ;D

ya i would never go down the stairs with weight. my patellas hurt just thinking about that much pressure ::)

Have you tried Donkey Calf Raises?


Plus I don't think that would be so great for the knees if you were to fall/lose balance.
Plus, it wouldn't be that great for the person on your back either if you were to fall/lose balance. ;D

ooo thats a good one too, but no i have not done them yet i am saving these for a few more weeks while i rehab.  im just trying to get some stuff together for when im training with people outside the gym who want to work legs.  i think it would be great to incorporate some of this stuff into our training.

Toss to hands, high, back to hands, full down. Workout varies by weight of cheerleader  ;) And yes I do cheer, don't judge me. (And no I'm not gay, you can get a full ride scholarship for it and it's actually pretty fun.) If you don't know what that means it's basically where you throw the girl up and catch her by yourself, with her feet by your shoulders, then pushing and holding her up with your arms extended. (Really tiring if you're not stable.) Bringing her back down, then throwing her up, she does a 360, and you catch her. Haha you actually probably could go do this if you go to a local gym while college cheer is practicing. You'll build a lot of muscle over time just learning the "toss to hands".

Haha thanks, although I didn't really like that movie or cheer movies in general because they always portray it as completely different than it is, at least where I come from the cheerleaders aren't a bunch of stereotypical self centered jerks, nor am I a sex-obsessed pervert, I respect girls and take what I'm doing seriously as a sport. Some of you may laugh at that but honestly cheer is the most intense sport I've ever done, we practice for hours after school perfecting tumbling, stunting, cheers etc. (For cheers all I have to do is clap and yell.)

One man stunting is a lot harder than it looks because even though lifting 120 or so lbs above your head may not be a problem, it's the shaking that tires you out so much. and the most embarrassing thing I've ever had to do is a toe touch. (Like doing the splits in the air.) Which isn't so bad and you can make it look pretty cool. Well I guess it depends on where you  live but yeah anyways I'm getting too far off topic. Bottom line: Cheer is probably the best workout when all you have is other people. Although you'll want to go to a gym and learn from pros and if you were doing that you might as well go lift weights lol

Don't they do that with every sport/art/discipline they decide to make a movie on? Take Channing Tatum's upcoming movie 'Parkour' for instance.

For Fired Up, I knew cheerleading didn't happen in real life the way they portrayed it, but I found the movie entertaining, and just decided to sit back and enjoy the fun.
I wouldn't expect you to do the same though, the same way I would rise up in arms when they mis-represented my own art in the said upcoming movie, so I understand why you didn't like it much.
