Just Starting-No place to practice
« on: December 17, 2009, 01:58:43 PM »
I'm just starting out in parkour. I haven't even been out to train but I know some basic movements(rolls, landings, wall runs, speed vault) but have to REALLY refine them. I live in Chambersburg PA and I highly doubt that anyone does parkour here and if they do I don't know them and/or have no way of hooking up with them. If you know my town please tell me some places to train. Also some tips on training, gear, and good yet cheap shoes would be nice :)

Hey man! Welcome to APK.

Check out the Getting Started link on the main site for ideas.

Also, check out the Pennsylvania boards farther down on the forum home page to look for locals.

Happy training! :)

I'm in the same situation, different town. Sucks, doesn't it?
And you can quote me on that.

What I did was get some friends into parkour to practice with. I'm a beginner myself, and we practice at least once a week as an unofficial team.

Also try working out daily, even if it's just a small workout routine. Working out I found out was one of my best ways to build confidence in my moves.

i have been doing parkour since april and i have no places to train other than a crappy park near my house (bout a mile away).

i also have had no one to train with either. you get used to it; its a lot easier to recover from a mess up though because you dont have to worry about anyone laughing at you or feeling bad or whatever. (not that they should, but you know what i mean)

Free will is ours and we can't let go
We are the image of the invisible"

I am in pretty much the same situation. I go to an open gym every friday night. try and find a gym that has open gym, you'de be suprised how many traceur are out there. me and my friends hook up at open gym and train as an unofficial team.
I don't have any idea what I'm doing, but I do it anyway.
