Two Problems
« on: November 19, 2009, 06:22:10 PM »
Well, I've noticed two issues. The first is more acute and immediate and the second could possibly be serious in the long term.
First off, in the last week, I've noticed my left calf hurts when I run. Now I know everyone thinks "shin splints" right off the bat, but it's not just the shin that hurts- its the muscle too. I'm thinking I should just stay off it for a while. Suggestions/Tentative Diagnoses?

Second, I've noticed that when I bend my legs beyond 90 degrees, my knees make a crackling sound as I go up. It's not very loud, and it doesn't hurt, but what do you guys think? Sometimes my shoulders do this too when I'm doing pullups.

Do you run heel-toe?

Cracking without pain is generally fine. A lot of people have that.

actually calf pain--i wouldn't go to shin splints first.  It could be--but doubtful.  A diagram would be helfpful.  your calf is a very large area when it comes to localizing a complaint.
