New/ Saying Hello from Pa!
« on: November 14, 2009, 10:53:34 AM »
Hi Everyone,
Hrinda from Northeast Pennsylvania here. I am new to this, and the more I read on the site,
the more excited I become.

A little bit about me, I spent 7 years in the Marines, work in Law Enforcement now, I have a black belt in
Tang Soo Do, and as I spent time getting back into running,
just running wasn't doing it for me.
So I started going over stuff instead of around,
and it led me here.

Thanks for making this site!

Welcome. It seems that you are in good shape then so conditioning probably won't be necessary [Though conditioning should always be part of training, no matter the physical shape a person in.]

Start on landing and rolling techniques. Stay away from heights [which is anything above your feet.]

Also, make sure that you have a firm understanding of what Parkour is and isn't.

I hope we can be of assistance. Welcome to APK Forums.

Thank you for the warm welcome!

And I will most definitely take that advice.
I have spent a lot of time looking around,
and made the choice to move my workout towards
functionality a year or so ago. Parkour seemed the only direction
to move my running.

Thank you again!

Also,
I do a lot of my running in the woods, actually, since I have access to them.
Trees are a great obstacle to work with,
and you would be surprised how you find yourself in a state of flow
while running through the woods. (queue "Last of the Mohicans music)

Hey jd,
 I am about 45 minutes from Wilkes-Barre,
but if you get up that way I would definitely be up
for trying to jam sometime (work and upcoming new baby permitting, of course)

 Drop a line sometime

Aww, Bless. Congratulations with the baby.

Woods and forests are absolutely wonderful for training. You must keep a constant flow and have perfect foot placement.
