Lower Left back.
« on: November 11, 2009, 09:06:04 PM »
Ok guys so about two weeks ago I threw out my back from carrying my backpack which weighs a ton... but anyways and It was starting to heal and i threw it out again in my soccer game last week so I have been keeping off of it for about a week because I have Varsity Soccer tryouts in 4 days... I have been doing the Cobra stretch and heating it up every night... What else can i do for it? How long usually do these pains last?

.... That doesn't help at all. I do rest which is obvious after getting an injury. I have tryouts on monday and I have to play no matter what. Would you like to explain more please. I have been doing all sorts of stretches are there any other things I can do?

Deep tissue massage would probably help... heat and stretching is the other stuff that works. Otherwise, just rest, heh.

If it's really stick around you can see a chiro or PT.

I would not do anything on it if it's hurting. That's just asking for a permanent injury

dude i have that same problem! its like a little above my butt, its like that muscle right there. I've been trying to figure out how to fix it too! how well does the cobra stretch work, and what is it? ill definantly keep my eyes out here and on the web to see what we can do about this.. it hurts baddd, hurts getting in my car, and when i sit and when i have to twist.. it sucks!

I'd see a chiro.  They specialize in this kinda thing.  And please, do some research on chronic use of ibuprofen ;), you won't like what you see.

i agree.. i had shoulder problems when i played college baseball.. and my doctor told me to take about 500 to 800 mg of ibuprofen before i use it and said i will like the effect from it.. Wrong.. i ended up tearing my rotater cuff in my throwing arm cause i couldnt tell if it was hurting or not.. idk if that will do the same for you or not when your playing soccer or not.. but i hope not dude

If it is around your belt line like you are describing it sounds like it could be the pelvis that is out of alignment (innominate or sacrum). This can happen for all sorts of reason, but activities are likely to just aggravate it unless it is realigned and held in place with specific exercises to follow up. I agree with Ken that a chiropractor would be a good idea for treatment. You can also look into a physical therapy clinic, but many times they are lacking in the proper assessment and treatment skills that a chiropractor would be able to use. As far as managing pain I would recommend ice (bagged ice with a wet paper towel on the outside of the bag) for 7 minutes over the painful areas morning and night to modify the overall pain and inflammation. It works well for decreasing inflammation overall when you have a regular icing schedule and has no negative side effect of ibuprofen. You can also use ice before games to allow you to play with less pain. Hope this is helpful.
