I will be heading over to Monterey from Hawaii toward the end of May and will be there until sometime in June 2011. I'm looking for groups who run there or in the general area to keep me going with this. I'm quite new and completely addicted. I'm looking forward to finding a group to kill the monotony of class.

I have a few friends in Santa Cruz, which is fairly close, that train. They're not on here, but they are on SFPK, and you might find people on PK Cali like Alex said. There are large active communities in Southern California, Sacramento and the greater Bay Area. The more rural or isolated areas of California are a bit more hit and miss as far as finding people. Often there's one or two people and if they're young, like most traceurs, the community dies when they go away to college or seek a career elsewhere. If there's nothing going in Monterrey, you can always start it up! Also, SFPK has a rotating monthly jam where we all meet up in a different spot each month. We've gone as far north as Santa Rosa (where I am), as south as Santa Cruz, as east as the Sierras and everywhere in between. If you can only make one big drive for PK a month, this is a great way to be part of a larger community. Also, several of us from all the different communities in California are trying to communicate more and establish some cool things for the future of parkour in California... so it's a great time to be coming to live here! Hope to see you at a jam!

Yeah Brett is a good source for the Northern California area. Get yourself known with the traceurs on SFPK that would be very helpful.. man I wish i still lived up north. I miss it up there, I used to live in Menlo Park, Atherton im guessing you know where that is right Brett?

Is Menlo Park on the Peninsula?
I know East Bay, North Bay and Sacramento best as those are the places I've lived.

Training. I'm Navy, actually. Like I said, I'm only there for a year, but it's long enough to get some good runs in! =D And I love Monterey myself. Was there for almost 2 years before coming out to Hawaii.

Anyhow, thanks, guys. I will keep tabs on the Cali forum to get things rolling. And I can try to get some peeps to join up. =) And if I remember correctly, there are TONS of places to run out there. But a group makes it so much more fun.

Yeah it's along the peninsula. I miss it a lot and I want to live back there some day... not like San Diego isn't nice just San Fran is amazing. Training. I'm Navy, actually. Like I said, I'm only there for a year, but it's long enough to get some good runs in! =D

I was stationed out at monterey from late 99-2001 (clearance hold) I loved that friggin place.
I bet you could have a lot of fun at the Del Monte center. and then again, you can run the Asilomar (all 11 miles of it) there is a lot of fun stuff there.
But, there were enough fun places to run up there, and enough walls to play with.
I just wish I was into PK when I was there. Have fun squid! lol.

Yeah, Taj. That sounds good. =) Sorry..it's been a while since I checked the CA forum. I've been sticking in Hawaii to keep track of what's going on in the current group I'm with, who are awesome, by the way. =D And Aaron, yeah, the Del Monte center, if I remember correctly, would be absolutely amazing to hit up.
