Yo Chance!. Well, lucky for you there's an East Lansing crew!. They usually post there training session times on their Facebook group. Just go there and search East Lansing Parkour.

Hey, my name is Dakota, you can call me Kota, I don't care really. I am a boy, for anyone that may get confused with my name. (happens sometimes)

I live in Clinton Twp, MI (Though you probably knew the MI part)
I have lots of friends, none that parkour though. I want some to get into it.

I haven't done Parkour at all. I am just starting and training, once I can do the workout on the front page with ease I'll start with my rolls/landings/jumps and then move onto vaults and other things.

I am only 14 so I don't expect to meet anyone here, but maybe by the time I'm 16, or 18, which gives me plenty of time to practice so I don't fail too bad when I meet up with someone. I am quite mature for my age and I found parkour and freerunning videos and finally decided to hit this site up. I am going into high-school next year so hopefully I will meet some people, or get some people into it. I'm not going to think about a clan until I can get the basics down.

I'm a really shy to the thought of practicing in public, but having more people do it with me would help greatly. I have a couple questions though, one, Could I start practicing before I can do the workout easily? I'm a little anxious into getting started. Also, I have very little self-control, what could I do to combat this?

Thanks for reading this,
DJ

P.S. I am extremely sorry if I misused the word Parkour. I know it ticks a lot of people off for some reason when it is used incorrectly. And even if I did and you didn't notice you probably will because I typed this P.S. message. So I'm just saying a Sorry in advance.  ;)

Oh, and I'm not one for introductions and this is the longest introduction I have ever posted. Phew! Hard work!  :P And I have a green name when looking on the whos online in the board index.  :o Why? Maybe because I am just awesome like that.  ;)

Hey, my name is Dakota, you can call me Kota, I don't care really. I am a boy, for anyone that may get confused with my name. (happens sometimes) I also want to have a nickname as DJ since my first 2 initials of my name are DJ. But that hasn't really happened.

I don't officially have a clan, but I want to make one, and I have a name for it, "Dew It'' meaning, don't have second thoughts, just 'do' it.

Hey Kota! This is Joeson, but you can call me Joe if you'd like. First off, welcome to Parkour! And welcome to the Michigan forums! It's great that you've finally found Parkour, and by the way you type, you seem quite mature for your age. Anyway, I live in Clinton Township as well, and I am 16 years old. Some questions I have for you... Have you ever done any sports? What school do you go to? Answers to those two questions will help me greatly :) As for the clan thing... Don't worry too much about it. As you get more involved in Parkour and introduce it to other people, as well as training with them, you'll eventually form your own little training group and you can call it your clan then.

As to answer your questions... Are you talking about the Workout of the Day (WOD) that's posted on the front page? The key thing is what you want to practice in Parkour. If you're talking about everything in general, you should have a certain level of fitness to lower the chances of injury as well as being able to complete certain skills, although being able to do the WOD is not completely necessary. What I recommend you do is purely condition until you reach a minimum level of fitness, and then move onwards to combining conditioning and skill training.
As for the self-control, I'm not really sure what you mean by this... Are you talking about controlling your body, or as in your emotions? Controlling your body comes with practice, but for emotions, you'll have to consult someone knowledgeable on psychology.
To answer your last question, I'm not exactly sure why. I haven't really looked at the section of the forums often, but I'll probably assume green means you're a new member.

If you have anything else, be sure to message me or post on the Michigan forums! I'm sure anyone will be glad to help.

Haha Phonis likes lurking the forums... Get some rest mister! :P Since you're new here, I would suggest you check out the General Fitness forum, and the subforum, Diet. They both contain quite a bit of information. Be sure to check out the stickies, and the website created by some of the forum moderators, http://www.eatmoveimprove.com . Lots of information to be found there. Other than that, another welcome to Parkour and the Michigan forums!

Anthony you need to get back to school so you stop spending every waking hour on apk. it's kind of sad. get out and do something stop sitting in the basement of your parents house and stalking people online.

Lol.

I do need to get back to school.
You and I both know that you don't have to be on these more than a quick check every day to see what happened, forums are rather slow and its nice.
I'm at my uncles house right now. :P

Uhhh... yeah. 53 days until I move back to Kzoo? ROGER

What's up guys, my names Damani i live in Novi michigan and I've been training for about 3-4 months. I  have no friends who do parkour except one who likes it but now the way I do. I'd love to train with some dudes who live near/around me. I could use some help with my technique again since I broke my wrist last year and wasnt able to train for about 3 months.

Also I've been on the forums for almost a year so I know what's up, I just havent really been here. Also dont mind the pic, the hoodie is the girl who's holding me.

My name is Jason. Or Jase, depending on which you prefer.
I don't belong to a clan and I don't have any friends who do parkour.
I live in Lansing.
I have only been doing parkour for a couple of months. I am very new, but I'm always open to learn new things.
I'm only 18, but I don't see age as a limitation one way or the other.
I'd love it if anyone near Lansing wanted to help me train/ train with me.
Other hobbies include sports, video games, reading, and I'm an avid writer.

Well Austin,
You are lucky to live where you live, Ann Arbor has a pretty active parkour group, they host a parkour jam every year...hopefully some of those guys will get on here and get a hold of you but until them you can look on facebook to get a hold of people at U of M. here is their facebook page http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13043525133
The guy I know from there is Jimmy Lee http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=506925739.

Hey everyone,

My name is Max Evans, I currently live in Canton, Michigan. I moved up here from Florida (long story, everyone asks why I moved up here, but it's various reasons including some personal reasons). I've been very interested in parkour for a long time now, and have always wanted to do parkour training. I've recently decided that there's no time like the present to start. So, after the holidays and everything, I plan to start training. Though, I still have to find somewhere that offers training. But, I'll do that in due time. =)

Me and my brother used to do random exercises and got interested in parkour, and researched it online a couple of years ago, and I've been interested in it since then. I ran across this site while searching for parkour training. So, I hope I can meet people who have the same love for parkour as I do. =D
