« on: November 07, 2009, 04:00:14 PM »
OK, i cant find anything to do pull-ups on (im too tall for the soccer posts and the top bar is too wide for my hands)
So, front lever progressions are out, pull-ups are out
I do push-ups, and ab rollers
Im going to put in some HIIT from soccer goal to soccer goal, maybe some jump roping..
I feel like im stuck!!
I want to work on upper body, but i feel like i cant do much for it!

If you can even hang from it at all, you can do pullups on it. Just will work grip more. If you have 20-30 bucks you can pick a pullup bar that attaches at the top of doorways and use that for a lot of things.

Focus less on what you think you can't do right now and more on what you want to be able to do.  Set some goals for yourself, list 'em here, and we'll help you achieve them.

Believe me: if you find a goal and stick to working at it, you'll achieve them.

Goals, eh?
Hmm..
I want to work towards..
15 kipping pull ups
Be able to perform an L-Sit
Hold a freestanding Handstand for 10 seconds
Full Planche (this is where your body is parallel to the floor, correct?)
Increase overall upper-body strength

Change the L-Sit one to holding it for 3-5 seconds initially or something and it becomes a good short term goal.

Last one's vague, but it's okay, some goals can be so. Just remember to have a base with which to measure your progress.

Full planche is a LOOOONNG term goal. Year+ to accomplish, but that's okay as there are progressions for it that are easier and are measurable and whatnot. You'll want to start working on them I'm sure.

Overall looks good. Simple, clean, and definitely attainable.

I cant do an L-Sit, thats why its a goal, im doing progessions, i can barely hold myself up in a tucked L-Sit for 15 seconds
Well.. what exactly did you mean by the first part?

Umm... Well, just accomplishing an L-Sit can be a vague goal. Is it holding it for 2 seconds? Three? Maybe 5? Who knows. But saying I want to hold it for at LEAST 3-5 seconds means it's very easily measurable when you do attain it. That's what I meant.

Install a pullup bar in your residence. Either buy one of the ones you attach to the doorframe or make one yourself with a metal pipe and some wood, like I did.
