Anguish, you're going to have to get used to it, and learn to compromise your way through it.
I don't know if you've seen what we do, but it looks pretty crazy. Once we get into it, we know its a wonderful training process, we know the conditioning makes it safer than most sports, we know there's a meaningful philosophy behind it. But a first time viewer won't. Namely, youtubers.
But you've got to let go of the desire for instant gratification, and have a little faith in mankind. I started Parkour because of crazy youtube videos. First thing I did was go out and look for roofs to jump off. But before long I caught on. And now I'm among the most strong advocates of safe training and conditioning in my state. I teach weekly classes that are 50% conditioning and 50% structured learning process. I host seminars that are the same.
Think of it like football. Everybody watches football. But young kids don't go out and start stiff-arming, head butting, and tackling each other for 4 hours straight after watching the game. They might feel inspired to try it, but their own natural abilities inhibit them from being quite so dynamic. Same for Parkour. Beginners still have the fear and the lack of ability. And naturally, as those qualities grow, so does their understanding (generally). Gotta have some faith. Do what you can, in fact, do everything you can to help spread the positive awareness, but do it in a positive way. Else people will just resist it.
