Injured Hamstrings & Sprained ankle.
« on: November 25, 2009, 06:19:03 PM »
About a week ago I injured my hamstrings and sprained my ankle practicing Split-Step Kong vault. Most likely my feet landed in the wrong position and when I pushed of the ground to run more I collapsed.
I know what that means in terms of being able to do Parkour again.
I just wanted to report it.

Date: 11/18/2009
Time: 13:40
DOB: 3/22/1991
Name: Jake Chess
State: Stratford, Connecticut
# years practicing Parkour: Two years
Hours of training per week: 12 Hours
Other exercise: I did do Taekwondo, Judo, and Muy Thai at one time. I stretch before Parkour training.
Location where injury occurred: In back of Stratford Library, my training location.
Conditions of location (wet, dark, icy, etc): Clear
What you were doing / trying to do when injury occurred?: Practicing Split-Step Kong.
Where any other people involved?: No
Part of body  - description of injury, rating of severity 1-10: Ankles & Hamstring: Severity - 4
Did you see a doctor for diagnosis?: My mom is a Pediatrician with a MD. My dad is a Internalist of Medicine with a MD. They said I should be O.K.
Did you get X-rays or MRI's?: No
Picture of the injury: Not much to see.
Could you / how could you have avoided the injury?: Landed better, perhaps I was pushing myself to much. I was practicing for a good four hours or so. I only took about 20 ounces of water.
Date / type / severity of your last injury?: No severe injuries other than this one. I did slip on a precision and blacked out. I do not know the date or time though, it was about a year into my training.
Notes on the experience?: Mildly painful. What really hurt was the thought that I wasn't better at the time and that I could have probably prevented the injury.
