Monkey vault -Help-
« on: October 31, 2009, 09:09:27 PM »
Alright, I'm trying to get the monkey vault down, practice will probably be through drilling it over and over again like I did with the other movements.

But as far as getting the guts to do it is beyond me, the wooden fence that Im going to practice it on is tiny, about at my waist (Im around 5'3 -5'4)

SO. Are there any progressional steps that you guys and girls know of to help me build up to the monkey vault? Any other general advice is great too.

`Bryce :D

P.S - It's mainly a fear thing, If I didn't state that clearly enough.

Same here I can't bring myself to monkey vault over something. But I can do it over the side of my couch, which is good practice. Try doing that a lot and maybe later you can try it on a fence and it will help.

use a picnic bench its got a wide platform you can use for progression without the fear of clipping and faceplant the worst that can happen is you land on you stomache on the bench then work torwards the rail, this will help you get over the fear of monkey.
There is no reason to have a plan B, cause all it does is distract from plan A

Well , attempted it on a small wooden fence, got a running start, did it, hesitated in the air, stopped midair.. and landed..... on the fence.

To put it bluntly, I raped my shins.

I still can't get past that mental barrier and I don't have anywhere soft to practice :(
