sideflips
« on: October 27, 2009, 11:10:31 AM »
for some reason, i land backwards on my sideflip. i do my sideflips like i would a webster. running, steping one foot out, a little sideways compaired to a webster, then i do the tuck, but for some reason after i do the tuck i come out backwards. i watched a tutorial, and i look like i do it the same way as did the guy on the tutorial, but i end up comming out backwards. this is bad because then im in a backwards running motion, witch has caused damage due to me slipping and falling(broken arm :P). can someone please help me? ill try to get a video later of it. but yeah. help me

It must be how you are tucking... you must be twisting a bit which makes your body rotate. Try and pick a spot in front of you (while sideways) and focus on it when doing the sideflip. This should force you to keep that point on the side as your axis of rotation.

I've tried the webster-esque technique myself and prefer the sideways two-foot take off.

when your tucking you might be bringing your throwing arm to your chest  this can start a rotation and make you land the way your landing

also you may want to try to learn them a different way then they way your doing instead of trying it like a webster and take of with both legs which might give you more air and more time to correct the trick
hope this helps

i actually planned on making a tutorial so ill send it to you when im done

when i used to do these i tried looking over my shoulder and landed in a similar way to what you're describing. try look forward at a spot but while you're actually flipping there's not much to see anyway, so i don't think it applies then.....
