Any other ab workout?
« on: January 23, 2012, 06:31:58 PM »
I've only been doing sit up variations to work my abs but usually, when I start doing them, the muscles I my back start to hurt before I feel anything in my abs. I pretty much forced to stop and I hardly get my abs worked out. Can you guys tell me any other ab workout I can do and variations to work all parts of my abs?

1) Shouldn't really be doing sit-ups to begin with. The muscles in your back hurt for a reason, sit-ups flex the lumbar spine and put a lot of unnecessary pressure on the vertebrae and between the discs.

2) If you really desire ab work try L-sits, RKC planks, slashers, and foam roller walk outs

The name of the game right now is anti movement; using the core to resist flexion, extension, and rotation.

I'm a big fan of the old "ab wheel" that makes you work it like you're trying to be a human wheel-barrel.  Sometimes, those nifty little gadgets actually do what they claim to do.

I've been doing Spud harness ab pull-downs recently on my deadlift days.  Those work great, but require access or ownership of the equipment to do them.

L/V-sits are generally the best option for the least amount of equipment, and translate well to parkour-specific work.

That's great workout but I exercise routine is leg lifts, the plank, and the crunch. These exercise can be performed on the floor with an exercise mat. For the six pack abs, a person has not only strengthened their abs by performing exercises, but also follow a diet and workout routine that hilp him to have a low  body fat and help to visible  abdominal muscles.
