Hawaii National Jam - Jan 2010 - Local Discussion.
« on: October 15, 2009, 02:36:02 PM »
Here is the current itinerary, I could change slightly so keep checking it.

Thursday the 21st.

- Meeting at Ala Moana Beach Park - "White Walls"
- Greeting, introduction, hosting discussions, transportation etc.

11:00am

3:00/30pm
- Walk to Waikiki. Free Scouting, play, exploration. Tour. Beach fun.

 (possibly) 8:00 to 9:30pm
- Gym session, open floor. $10 per person. Under age needs parent to sign waiver. Let me know if needed so I can have it emailed to you.

Notes: Bring sun block and swimming trunks, Stay light as we'll be moving about quite a bit.

Friday the 22nd.
Hike and Training.

10:30am
Meeting at the Pali Lookout.
MAP
11:00am
Warm up hike. Natural Exploration.

1:30pm
Training down at the look out.
We will be at that spot until 4:00pm.

Notes: Bring a change of clothes, it can get muddy. Ariakes dont do well on slippery terrain.

Saturday the 23rd.
Maunawilli falls.
Map

9:00am
Meeting at the gate.

9:30am
We head up.
.
This is a small hike (about 1hr) with some opportunities on the way. The fun is at the falls, jumping off anywhere from 10ft to 35ft. The way down is usually a lot faster. Our fastest at the moment is about 10 to 15mins.

Notes: Mosquito repellent would be useful, a change of clothes as it WILL be muddy.
IMPORTANT: This event could be canceled due to flash floods. Depends on how the days starts.

Afternoon

3:00pm
Training at UH (University of Hawaii) until we cant move anymore - Night session welcome.

Sunday the 24th.
Diamond Head - KCC

10:30
Meeting at KCC (Kapiolani Community College)
MAP
11:00
Walk to diamond head and up.

2:30
KCC training until we get sick of it.

We might finish at crown wells for some swimming and diving.

Notes: There is a slight possibility we can get kicked out of KCC. There is a spot near, not the best but almost the only walking option. We can always drive somewhere else.

Monday the 25th
The log - Beach, diving, small hiking.

10:30
Meeting at parking lot.

11:00
Natural Conditioning Session

Some small hiking, exploration and fun diving/flipping off of the log.

2:30
Sandys Beach (optional)

More beach fun, relaxing, flipping, or just enjoying Hawaii.

Notes: Sunblock optional, water a must. "The Log" is a secluded beach, no place for buying snacks for a few miles. Come prepared. Also, the sand at "The Log" can get pretty hot, sandals, flip flops, five fingers or any other beach footwear is recommended. The water is very clear and we will be doing some underwater conditioning, goggles and snorkel will make you experience the beauty much up close.

Overall notes.

It is going to be rainy season in Hawaii, hopefully that week we'll get a break. In the event, we just need to adapt and go with it. Hikes could be canceled due to weather.

If you are doing the hikes with us, you need to be aware of this Leptospirosis

Things recommended to bring.

Wraps(for any joint injuries that might happen)
Band aids
Antibacterial soap
Athletic tape.
Sun block.
Goggles/snorkel
Camera

P.S. We need to fit an acai bowl session somewhere in there!!!!!

I'm totally gonna be there, coming with Pilou.  Celebrating both our b-days and me finishing my f'ing dissertation. We'll find our own housing in honolulu and might rent a motorcycle to get around, or will split a car rental with a couple of others if they're interested.  Can't wait to see you again Ozzi!!!

wanna have a "jam" where we specifically get together and talk about the national jam?  I suggest Sunday the 17th so we'd have the most up to date info....We could get info sharing done in beginning and then go out and train?

See everyone's schedules
Finalize jam Schedule (make last minute tweaks here and there)
See who can give people rides
see who we know is coming

I have a feeling most people coming in from the mainland are going to be coming in on the 20th so that they can rest and what not and have the full day once the jam starts.  Want to have a social non-pk kind of thing the day before the jam for these people so they don't "waste" a day in beautiful hawaii?  For example I'm picking up Gabe on the 20th @ 3:30pm...I offered to take him to see sights or go beach (since jam starts the next day), anyone doing similar things wanna meet up maybe for dinner or go out for drinks?

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday... Never thought I'd have to get grade checks not being in a formal sport at school but it convinced my parents to let me go xD. I might try to just take the bus to there straight after school Friday, but that's a iffy. But Saturday and Sunday look like a lot of fun, and two days will kill me anyways, specially with Ozzi there.

We are going to make the mainlanders (Sounds like I'm calling them aliens or some extraterrestrial unknown creature o.o) get the asie cup (No idea how to spell it) at jamba juice right? xD

Anyone think they can give me and Justin a ride on Saturday and/or Sunday. We have bus fare money and takin' the bus ain't bother us so we ain't want anybody go out of there way. We live on Hickam by the way.
