Oldfatman's cry for help
« on: October 05, 2009, 05:42:17 AM »
If any of you older gents remember Oldfatman, I just got an email from him asking for a little help

Hey,  its oldfatman from APK last year.

I am working on a humanitarian relief project for Burma.  We are getting
counter-culture folks to do short public service announcement vidoes and
then putting them up on www.bluefoxrelief.info/burma

Do you know any well known and respected traceurs who would be
interested in  doing a short public service announcement regarding our
project?

Thanks

Anyone interested in this or know someone who may be, let me know and I'll pass on the message.  Though, I don't know why he didn't just post this himself....

I think he means something like this:

"Hi, this is ----.  I was recently featured in a newspaper story about Parkour in Minneota.  I am an expert traceur, and I just want to say that even though Parkour requires immense concentration, I still find the time to think about the people of Burma.  These people need our financial support as they recover from (disaster/hardship).  The next time you're getting a Happy Meal at McDonalds, and they ask you if you want to Super-Size it, say no, and send the money you save to this address: ...  Remember, you don't have to be famous to be appreciated.  The people around you will learn from your generosity, just like learning a new move.  Remember, when you're out there training, keep your balance and get a grip.  I'm ----, and I'm out of here!"

Who said Parkour was counter-culture?  We might be counter-gravity, or good at hopping over counters, but that's quite a lot to say we are against our culture.  If we are, then I'm all for it, because our culture must really suck if exercise, discipline, and the spirit that Parkour does bring is against today's present society.  Now I'm all angsty.  For the younger folks here, how do you deal with being irreparably misunderstood?  This is difficult.

lol,   I may as well have posted here.

Any movement that you partake in that regularly gets you scorned by an angry janitor may be considered a counter culture.

At any rate, Vexar pretty much hit the nail on the head.  If anyone(s) from the TC Parkour scene wants make a video request similar to the one up on our site already, that would be awesome.  You don't have to be "famous" or anything.  Believe me when I say that it would be helping out a lot.  if your interested in helping out, just send an email to the address on our contact page.
