I went out Sunday afternoon for a quick jog and after about the third step my left leg from the knee down went numb. I am barely able to move my ancle or toes and knee movement is very limited. I cant feel anything like pinching but I can still feel preassure. Every now and then I get a feeling like pins and needles that goes from my ancle to my knee through the middle of my leg. I dont know if this may have been the initial cause but my homecoming dance was Saturday night and I had only gotten about 3 hours of sleep that night.
What are your thoughts and should I seek medical attention or just wait a week or so to see if it heals?

See a doctor....

Probably pinched a nerve, but total loss of sensation needs to be checked out.

was there swelling?  And changes in motor function are big red flags.  You need to go to a medical professional ASAP.
Any information or advice given is not to be interpreted as diagnosis, or statements of causality, conditions should be evaluated by a licensed practitioner of Chiropractic or Medical Doctor IN PERSON.  Therefore treatment recommendation should be considered similarly and bears no consequence to me.

There was very slight swelling, none now. I am slowly beginning to regain feeling, and movement has returned almost to its original state. I am avoiding going to the doctors if possible due to the crappy insurance and my current financial state.

financial issues...I have extremely horrible insurance that really doesn't cover anything and my family doesn't really have a lot of spare change right now...yay michigan economy!

update on the injury though: it is basically back to normal, except every now and then my leg will go a little numb for a few seconds, its kinda entertaining actually

have you ever had any back pain? Herniated disks are extremely common causes of unilateral numbness in the legs, which means numbness in only one leg. Usually a herniated disk touches the nerve root of a nerve going down one of your legs, causing that leg to lose some feeling. You may also have a compressed nerve in your ankle.

I have had back pain (I actually just finished physical therapy for it 2 days ago!). But that was for muscles. They where all knotted and a few where extremely underdeveloped. And it had been going on for about 4 years, and my leg was just last fall. I had 3 separate people look at my back (2 therapists and 1 specialist) and all said the same thing and not one of them mentioned a herniated disk, so I doubt it was that.
Would a compressed nerve in my ankle cause half of my leg to go numb though?

But, like I said its basically back to normal except for every now and then (3 X's a month roughly). Im moving to Canada in like 4 months so after Im on the health care there I plan on seeking some medical attention if it persists.

Yes, can be a compressed nerve if something is out of place
