October Jam
« on: September 28, 2009, 02:48:55 PM »
It is that time again. The dates are sunday the 11th and sun the 25th. While we are still discussing where to jam for the 25th, here is the info for the 11th.

 Date: Sunday the 11th
 Where: Kahana Bay Park
Meeting time: 10:30, will start at 11am with or without you.
 Meeting spot: Parking lot HERE
What to bring: Water, snacks, bug repellent (if you thin you need it) we will be in a natural environment, scratches and such might occur, band aids antibacterial hand lotion could be handy.
Notes: There is not place to buy anything around, bring water and snacks to last you fora few hrs (fruits, nuts etc)

This jam will be about natural training. As always we will be interacting with our surrounding, this time, in a more natural setting. Lots of crawling, climbing, swimming, some lifting/carrying will be involved. Have a few games in mind and other fun drills. Any ideas or suggestion can always be share with the rest of us. We encourage barefoot training.

Transportation info:

Buses from this station
55 DOWNTOWN - Bishop Street
    HONOLULU - Ala Moana Center

88A WAHIAWA - Circle Island

 See ya all there.

Yeah, Kahana Bay area looks like fun. On Google it looks like Kahana Valley State Park runs mauka along Kahana Stream almost 4 miles to the 2400' mark on Pu'u Ka'aumakua. That should be more than enough area to wear out even JC ;D

Well as fun and beautiful as that is, there is really not much to do there, but that is my vote. Everyones opinions also count.

I personally don't mind stairway to heaven...but we're technically not supposed to go on that trail anymore cause the state closed it down.  It's a great hike though, just would like everyone know that it's not the safest place to go.

Yeah there's some shitty parts about it, but it's a good climb. (Just a thought though)
Another thought (Replying to Ryan's Pali Lookout session), there's a great great trail up Pali Lookout, Ozzi, you were talking about doing some kind of hike/natural thing. Pali Lookout hike wouldn't be so much parkour as it would just a hike in general, though there's lots of places we could be creative.

I'm not sure if any of you have done that hike but I walked on it for a good hour and never made it to anything that looked like an ending. But it was a very clean trail all the way through and it was very 'natural'. Would be a great place to maybe get a lot of people together for a hike. (Just another idea).

And hopefully my ankle will be okay to at LEAST hike with you guys, within two weeks or so. :)

I like Ozzi's pictures. Those monkey trees look nice. Or a general hike would be pretty cool 'cause I just got my new hiking boots >:).

For some reason I want to say for the second jam that one place near... Ugh... I forgot the name. I know we jammed there September of '08 (Got me way into parkour too ^^), I think Ozzi's ankle was sprained again and he was on crutches :/. Also If I remembered right Ozzi lived near by. It was like Kohneoha Bay or something... I know a lot of the spots are in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0S5bcK-XA0 It's that weird water ditch thingy, the bank um that abandoned building... Y'all should know what I'm talking about right xD That's my two cents though it ain't worth even that :P

Edit: Lul, I found it http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php?topic=18646.0

LOL! I can try, but I can't make any promises. He's ALWAYS working now. XD

And no, you didn't scare me away. I think I might have already become addicted. ;D

Sean, some of the guys and I did a hike up the pali, the short one though, not sure if its the same you were talking about but I would be down since it is a new one anyway. Then we can come down and play at the actual lookout to finish.

Well I'm sure we still have a little while to think up some ideas anyways.
I'd like my ankle to heal though ;) haha

Looking forward to my last few jams with you guys before I go back to Oregon.

Take it WAY easy. Worst thing is re-injuring it trying to push too fast.

Sean, Bro, honestly, you were in crutches last weekend. I wouldnt do any hikes any time soon. Maybe at the end of the months will do a more of a conditioning type of jam and you can join us for sure. I know you are leaving and want to train and I love you for that, but that same love forces me to ask you to take it easy. Take it from me, my ankles have suffered a lot, you dont want that.

Sean, you crazy =P

Anywho, I can be there on the 25th, but I'll be on a plane flying back to island from Michigan on the 11th.
