Decatur, GA training log
« on: September 13, 2009, 10:20:43 AM »
We had an excellent training on the 11th and 12th.

The 11th we had a total of 3 people. We started out at the Marta station and moved to a rail and stair section (north?) of the station. We trained there for the remainder of the night.

Everyone did their own thing, but there was lots of conditioning and technique drills. In particular we did wall climbs, stair squat jumps, QM, rail work, and small vaults.

The next day we went to SEGA and trained there. There is an awesome russian gymnast coach named Miguel there who taught us alot about conditioning and some muscle up / getup techniques. In particular I think the handstand / planche training will be extremely useful. Besides that we had lots of fun flipping around the gym and conditioning. Congrats to Brian for getting really solid side flips!

The 18th was just me, solo training at the station.

Started out with stretches and warm up and started doing QM. Did all sorts of QM... push up qm, movement on rails, feet on walls, up stairs... it was a big QM night.

Did lots of precision jumps and a "silent run". Warmed down and streched out before leaving.

Great training tonight. Met three new (younger) guys who are just beginning parkour.

We started out with a warm up, running backwards, forwards, side to side, all sorts of movement and then started QM. Went over some QM basics, forward, backwards, and different types of QM including push up QM. After some more stretching we did some small vaults (hip height or lower) and practiced quiet landings. We did several sets of stair QM before moving to rails and doing light forrest drills. After this, I introduced them to rolling before we stretched out and broke for the night.

All in all, good training! I hope to continue to see more people in Decatur.

Tonight: Barefoot training!

Training tonight was great. Trained with Sam, who I've trained with once before.

We started with the regular warmup (joint rotations, stretching, running forward, backwards, side to side) went into some QM before going into vaults and precisions. Then we did alot of rail work including forrest drills (and some hokey pokey).

We then did 5 sets of stair QM before doing some raised traverses and more jumping around.

Lots of fun in all!

Awesome training tonight. Attendees were myself, Arok, and Thaddius (also, Brian trained earlier around 5pm, so he gets an honorable mention) ;). It was Thaddius's first time out and Arok has much improved his landings! Keep up the good work guys.

Started out with a warmup and did all kinds of QM. Did some precision jump work and then forrest's back workout. At that point Arok and Thaddius had to leave.

Did some rail QM, stair QM, and several circuits. Did some traverses and get-up training before practicing vaults and more rail QM. Did a long cool down and an awesome stretch session.

By the way, I will be emphasising end of workout stretching far more now that I've learned all about it. [link]

Training was rough tonight! Training in the rain!

Started with a warm up to QM, QM and more QM. Then more QM. Then pushup QM, then stair QM, then QM QM.

It was just me tonight, so I pretty much did an hour of nonstop QM all around. Mentally one of the hardest trainings I've ever experienced.
